Growing erect or upright is the habit of this small, square stem shrub. It has an attractive flower from its bud, when it sticks out its trumpet or makes a tube, until it completes into a blue purple flower with a yellow throat. A little like morning glories. This shrub with dark green leaves is native to tropical Africa. For the sake of information about distribution, these are the pictures I took in Aceh Besar, Sumatra. I found it growing thickly near a villagers' garden, and appeared to have not been pruned in a long time. This flower plant, also known as Bush Clock Vine and King's Mantle, blooms from August to January. It is known by the scientific name: Thunbergia erecta. (Scientific sources: Thunbergia erecta; Thunbergia erecta).
