A Beautiful Sublime Sunday - Glimpsing Into the Coming Spring

I love how the days are getting longer and there is warmth in the sun!

We've had above seasonal temperatures that I got out as much as possible to enjoy for I know it will not last as winter is not over yet here in northern Saskatchewan, Canada.

Being out enjoying the Spring-like temperatures felt so glorious and it amazes me the kind of feeling of awakening it brings (perhaps because over the last couple of months we've been kind of hibernating in the cold weather). It will be awhile before we see plants starting to awaken but on these warm days I have seen the birds going into what seems like their courting rituals.

It's still the winter birds here and it will be another month before the other birds return. There is a large variety of song birds that choose the Boreal forest (where I live) as their breeding grounds, filling the air with their cheerful songs.

I have my regulars coming to the yard because I keep the bird feeder full.

One little fella has gotten quite accustom to me and goes on with his routine of stashing seeds from the feeder in the slates on our trellis even if I am standing quite close. This allowed me to get some good close ups.

With the thawing of the day and freezing at night there is often frost on the tree branches. This soon disappears when the sun hits the trees.

This perky grosbeak didn't seem to mind the frost and chose the top of a tall spruce for his look out spot.

Here is his counterpart on the non frosted branches of the lilacs.

Also close by the spruce trees a raven came soaring over.

And some redpolls were in the bushes close by.

Sitting in the spruce tree a squirrel was enjoying a snack.

As the sun began to set it touched the clouds with pastel pink signalling the end of another lovely day!
