Well Mother Nature sure threw a gamut of weather conditions at us the last few days!
An Alberta Clipper moved into the province bringing with it milder temperatures but also wind.
The temperature had been about average for January when this clipper moved in and bought the temperature up to the freezing mark and with it freezing rain. I was so happy I didn't have to go any where for driving was treacherous with many people in the ditch. My concern was about being able to walk around.
It wasn't too long before the rain turned to soft snow. Since there was already a good layer of snow on the ground the ice just made a bit of a crust then the fresh snow on top made it not so slippery to walk on.
I was also concerned about what damage there would be to the trees and bushes with that ice coating then a layer of snow. Luckily there wasn't too much snow to break branches but they were bending with the weight of it all.
The first few shots were taken just after the freezing rain, before it started to snow.

The willows on our lane way seemed to be effected most by the coatings of ice and snow, starting to form an archway over the path.

With the contrasting temperatures of the warmer days and cooler nights (when the skies had cleared), we awoke to a beautiful covering of hoarfrost on top of the snow and ice - that for me really makes a winter wonderland!

I have not had the opportunity to know the snow although I have been in the moors with temperatures below zero, in those days the cold has not let me sleep so I do not know if my body is ready for that experience.
But I have always wanted to play with the snow, your images are amazing very cute and your dog was more beautiful giving color to the white of the snow.
I really enjoyed watching and reading your post Greetings @porters
Glad you enjoyed my posts. Snow can be lots of fun if you are prepared for it and the hoarfrost can make for some really beautiful scenes - keeps me in awe in our winter wonderland. It's funny when you are engrossed in the awe and beauty of it all you don't feel the cold.
Fascinating to think each crystal formed is unique, always enjoy going on walks with you and Bruno offering variety in nature.
Some poor trees creak and break with weight one can but imagine the additional weight added during the winter months alone.
