I'm drawn to gaze in wonderment at the full moon which has been pretty bright for the last couple of days. That must be because it is a "Supermoon" labeled super because it is at it's closest approach to the earth.
I'm curious too for the naming of this month's full moon which
SciTechDaily filled me in on -
In the 1930s the Maine Farmer’s Almanac began publishing American Indian Moon names for the months of the year. According to this almanac, as the full Moon in April, this is the Pink Moon, named after the herb moss pink, also known as creeping phlox, moss phlox, or mountain phlox.

It is not called pink because of the color of the moon but because of that flower but I did manage to get a shot of the full moon with a pink glow to it caused by the moisture in the air.

I caught the moon as it was rising among the spruce trees which often gave it an appearance that it was cradled or held in the branches.

The image below it really looks like the moon is being gripped by the branches.

The moon had been out when there was still some daylight and as it got darker there was a different effect in the moon shots.

With the moon closer to the spruce tree the branch silhouettes created a beautiful pattern.

The evening before the air was clear and crisp and I got some fabulous close ups of the moon showing the detail on it's surface.
I actually prefer taking close up photos of the moon when it is not quite full for that little bit of shadow on it's edge shows off the detailing in the craters and such. Have a look...

I hope you got out to see this glorious "Supermoon"! The moon will remain full for the next couple of days so go out and enjoy it!
This is my Amazing Nature Contest April 2021 - #03 entry. See details here
The photos were taken with my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS.
Even though we are in different places we all see the same moon and it is beautiful, you got some amazing photos. Superb!
I loved the first photo with the clouds under the moon. The textures were cool!
These are very cool pictures!
Thanks for sharing the full moon, we captured glimpses of it dancing through clouds which I did not photograph, enjoyed just watching quietly listening to a nightjar in song.
Cool! Do you ever record the different bird songs there to share in your posts?
I'd love to hear what a nightjar sounds like!
Nightjar recording I made is not as clear as I would have hoped, here is the call recorded by another lady on You Tube to hear the distinct call.
That's a beautiful call! Thanks for sharing!
