I love the early morning light as it's rising on the evergreen trees and the birds are awakening giving their cheerful calls!

You can see that robin calling and other birds in the video below...
Here is another robin with his bright red breast sitting on the poplar tree.

The grosbeaks are still coming by but not in the numbers.

In a previous post I mentioned a bird that looked like the redpoll but with a lot more red, well as it turned out it was a purple finch and there was a few of them coming around our place.

There is still a number of juncos cleaning up under the feeder and all the little seeds on the ground. It seemed they mostly were ground feeders but occasional they would come up on the feeder to get some seeds.

Some new visitors to the yard is the Baird's Sparrow and the yellow throated warbler - cute little fellows!

And another new visitor - the northern flicker whom I had heard but never seen up close. There was a pair of them sitting in the trees by our lane. I hope they are nesting close by!

After looking at all those beauties in the trees I looked down below and there were more beauties in the patterns forming on the ice. We are still having freezing temperatures at night but the days are getting warmer now.

Now it's off to the hilltop to take Bruno for his walk. The grass is beginning to green but the leaves still haven't popped open yet giving that flush of green.
Bruno Exploring on the Hilltop
A white tail deer surprised us as it jumped out of a clump of trees or I guess it is the other way around - we surprised him! Luckily we had called Bruno back before he saw him or he would have taken off chasing the deer.
You can see why they are called the white tailed deer for they wave their big white tails as they go leaping away.

On the way back we saw the horse sister lounging in the fresh green grass enjoying the warmth of the morning sun.

The young horse got up and went over to her mom as we approached trying to suck on her but her mom had her weaned so when she couldn't get anything happening there she went back to bug her sister.

When you posted the picture of the "redpoll" last week, i wondered if it was a purple finch. But you have such different birds than here, I didn't say anything. :))
Still love those ice patterns! That first photo of the robin, I love how the orange tummy shows underneath. Cool the flickers are back.
Congratulations for these beautiful photos, which you share with people who do not have the facility to observe these natural sceneries. Thank you very much!
