Amazing Nature thematic challenge - absorbed by Nature (10 foto)

This post goes for #AmazingNature Thematic Challenge. The weekly theme was: Absorbed by nature.

Thru the years I have captured a lot of examples of how nature takes back what man once took from it. What I can present is not necessarily 'absorbed' - I would rather say: transformed, balanced, levelled, brought into equilibrium with the rest of the things in nature. This is my understanding of the given topic. I hope my understanding is correct, or at least legit.

I was always fascinated with the nature talent and numerous possibilities of doing so, and being attracted with its activities. I can shoot an aging chipped oil paint peeling off a wall, a plain rusted sheet of metal - because I love the way they look, the beauty nature gives to these things is amazing for me. I could not but thank you @bucipuci for suggesting this prompt - it is neat, perfect, excellent.

Do open the pics in a separate window and enjoy the capture in all hi-res majesty. So you can examine and enjoy all the details of these masterpieces created by Mother Nature.

A fragment of some metal construction that I met on the shore of one of the Ladoga islets - this island was a secret military base where engineers tested model submarines. Now it is a free zone, with no secrets left, but ruins and the remains of various structures. I don't know how long this fragment has been in the water, but probably no more than 50 years. Look what the power of water and the surf did to this metal! It is turning it into a pebble, but for now its already a Magical Artefact of Ancient Civilizations.

I might already have shared this photo, but I dont remember exactly was it Hive or previous blockchain or WeKu. But its a fair use, I believe, as I didn't share this story and angle of view.

Nothing to look at here, probably. Probably I have bizarre taste for shooting stuff like this! Another rusty particle from Ladoga skerries. It has its own beauty for me (as described above).

Said painted surfaces. Nature is working on them non-stop each summer and winter, hehe. Already look nice!

( @bucipuci, I guess this one you will like more than others - as it is a sewer manhole, which you also like to photograph . . :)

Amazing colors, much better than they were originally when it was just produced and installed it the place. (Located somewhere at St.Petersburg, just 150 meters from my house). It is something from 1980-es, i.e. about 40 years old.

Now, a few shots I created at Crimea back in 2006.

Do you have any idea what is this? These are bricks! Ancient bricks made of sandstone. I think they are hundreds or maybe even thousands years old - I cant be precise. The sea tide have polished them to these rounded shapes, and continue its work.

These reinforced concrete structures are the only thing left of the fence surrounding the Soviet military camp in the Crimea. Reinforced concrete is known to be a strong structure... and look what nature has done to it in 60 years. A hundred years more and the concrete will turn into rubble and then become sand, the iron will decay into rust and the streams will wash it to the sea.

It is much harder for nature to cope with polyethylene. The decomposition time of an ordinary plastic bag is probably between 700 and 1000 years; under unfavourable conditions they do not decompose at all. (Humans can help the process! Polyethylene film can be recycled again - but unfortunately, no more than 3-5% of all polyethylene film produced reaches the recycling stage). Sorry, I dont have any pictures of polyethylene stuff to show you...

On this picture you can see the successful progress of reinforced concrete structures' assimilation by the salty sea water. Amazing outlook, isnt it? This capture was made at the same location at Crimea, at the Black sea shore. It probably date back to the soviet epoch but not too old, its not like it is 50 years old. As you can see, it did not take ages for the nature to perform the flip-flop :P

Let me round up my story here. Just adding one more picture for your pleasure. This was shot three years ago at Karelia, at the ships' anchorage in Priozersk. When I stumbled upon this scene, it looked for me as almost iconic representation of the given subject. There was one ship that had been lying docked for a dozen years. A nylon rope lowered into the water - it's nylon! A completely lifeless substrate that does not absorb moisture and is in no way capable of supporting life... and yet, look for yourself: life has already penetrated here, a poplar bush has taken root in this rope right in the air. Life penetrates everywhere, all the creations of human hands are subject to it - it's just a matter of time, and nature has plenty of time, an eternity.

Thank you for entering the competition.
Your conception of the topic is great. On rusty objects or water and salt abraded column you can see the "work" of nature :-). However, the plant attached to an inert rope belongs to the highest league.

Me complace.

😍

Nature concurs all, hopefully more humans help in not building larger problems than we have already.
