📷 Pakistani Goats

in Amazing Nature3 years ago (edited)

In the previous post from the series about travel to Pakistan, I promised to show several photos of local goats. Of course, there are quite a few of them from time to time, but it is still difficult to put all the photos into one post.

What could be more common and ordinary than a goat? Well, perhaps a cow for me — but here, in the mountains of northern Pakistan, they are more difficult to find. Goats are much more maneuverable to go safely on rocks and glaciers, are rather unpretentious in food, and in general they are much easier to feed in the mountains.

They are also much more beautiful. They stand on the rocks, as if posing, looking from behind a bush or lying like this on a stone, resting — and they are looking at us with their strange eyes with unusually horizontal pupils, and they may be think something about us.

And some do not mind talking with strangers, non-local people — whole delegations come up to us, curious and charming creatures. And we are always happy about this and do not mind talking to them (unless it is a bearded horny aggressive goat) :)

Goats give their owners three important things: wool to make light and warm things out of it, milk to drink it and make fermented milk products and cheese, and meat, a precious almost festive food: although it is not eaten high in the mountains, but going down, people eat without fail, at least sometimes. It would be difficult for a humanity without these pets, so let's thank them.

To be continued...
