I recently purchased a used compound microscope along and a small collection of permanent slides, and I thought that I may share some of the images I have taken over the last few days using my eyepiece camera.
While the main reason for me purchasing this instrument is to help me when identifying fungal species, the cold weather will force me to wait until next spring before I can begin to use it for that purpose. With winter having set in here in Northern America, most of the fungal species I would like to examine under this microscope are laying dormant beneath the icy soil. In the meantime, I intend to become more acquainted with using this microscope and the accompanying software used by the ocular camera mount so I can hopefully provide crisp and clear images of fungal tissue and their spores once the time comes. The permanent slides that I now have contain materials of everything from neurons, to protists, to minerals, and I plan to share images of the most interesting specimens as I make my way through the collection. That being said, please forgive me if the accompanying images are not particularly clear; these images are some of my first attempts at microscopic photography!
The camera and software used for the microscopic imaging are a 1.5 MP Amscope digital eyepiece camera and ToupView imaging software produced by ToupTek Photonics. If anyone has any suggestions for how I may take more clear images using this setup, please let me know!
