Hello hivers and sewing lovers, today's project is very special for me because after a long time I sewed with a more artistic goal, it turns out that every July 13th is commemorated the physical departure of the great Frida Kahlo, if you read my previous post you will know my relationship with this painter, it took me time to make peace with them, however I always had the intention to honor her. Until this year I decided not only to paint and write about her, but also to sew a piece in her honor but with my vision, appreciation and her effect on me, adding my style, so here I show you my Frida Kahlo blouse.

It is a really simple blouse, in fact its technical name is peasant top blouse that has positioned itself as one of the strongest trends in recent times. To make yours you need the measurements of your chest and arm circumference, depending on the slack you want you add the necessary cms at the time of cutting. The materials are: needle, thread, elastic, chalk, tape measure and fabric, in this case I used Sofia lycra. You can use a blouse mold or make your own with the measurements taken. Cut pieces, one front and one back from the chest to the desired length, I did it until a few cms after the waist, also cut two other pieces for the sleeves, respecting the shape of the armhole as indicated in the image.

Now let's start sewing, we begin by joining the two large pieces by the sides, leaving the curve of the armhole free for the sleeves, these we also close them by the sides. Next step is to join the sleeve with the blouse, from the seams of union in the armhole, as indicated in the image, it is always better to adjust with pins, you face the back, adjust and sew, in all this process use sewing similar to the overlock.

With the chalk you are going to mark all around where your elastic will go, so you have a guide and it is straight, I did it on the chest, half sleeves and right at the waist. Also, to make sure the elastic is even, use a marker to mark the cms to be stretched. Now if we are going to sew the elastic with a zig zag, we secure the first stitch and step on it and stretch the elastic according to the chosen mark, it is the same procedure for the neck, sleeves and waist. Now we are going to give the petal wave touch to the edges, we fold inwards as little as possible and pass a zigzag stitch. We clean the excess thread and fabrics.
