It's the beanie season.
It's getting colder each day. We wake up to thick fog in the morning, and yes, it is that time of the year again when I come up with the idea of trying to create a beanie, hoping that I can actually finish it. My last attempt? Well, I had totally forgotten about it for some years, and I found it gathering cobwebs in my stash of yarns and WIPs.
Then here goes my daughter. I shared about her little projects here a few months ago. This time, she embarked on something bigger. I don't know if I suggested it to her, or she decided it on her own. But yeah, she just completed her own striped beanie:

Oh! I remember. We were looking for something cute, and we thought of a beanie with cat ears. We found this tutorial on youtube and Little Miss immediately started on her project. She chose mint green and white for her color combo. She finished it in a couple of days sans the cat ears. But it still suited her with those cute flaps.
My Take.
Of course, since the Little Miss got her beanie, the mom got challenged. I decided to make a simple beanie project using the multi-colored yarn I got. Many patterns on YouTube showed this rectangle pattern that would later on be bunched to create the hat. It was ribbed single crochets and I did not like it.

After many stitches, I got tired that I could not see any progress apart from the rectangle getting bigger. On top of that, I encountered a roadblock that I did not want to resolve - uneven edges!
Nah, it won't work. So I decided to pull the other end of the cake of yarn and started a magic ring to begin another beanie project using this round pattern.

Of course, it progressed faster since the pattern called for double crochets. I did not notice that after a few hours, I was almost done. I went on to proceed with the ribbings, and that's it. I was done the morning after.
Here is the semi-done project modeled by the Little Man.

... and here's the final output modeled by our cat, Fluffy.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. It was nice to be able to create something with my hands. It's been a while. Although I really felt the tension in my fingers (old age signs?!) I look forward to the next one.
Hive Power Up Day
And oh, before I hit Publish, I just realized that I still have time for a quick #hpud. I am aiming for 12k HP at the end of the year. Powering up 40.474 today, I will reach 11,700 HP and will have 300 left to grind in the next 30 days. So lezzzgaaawwww!

How about you? I hope you had a great start of the last month of the year. I am happy to finally be able to write something here on Hive after a few weeks. I finally have some time to myself and got in the proper headspace to create something -- a beanie (yaay!) and a post (double yaay!)
Let's keep on grinding! ✨ 🔥
