Hello beautiful community lover of threads, fabrics and needles, I wish you are enjoying good health together with your loved ones, have a happy and productive week, I am happy to share with you the elaboration of a stocking for my son, it is the first time I make stockings and the result I really liked; recently I did a sewing course and the instructor the first day of class presented us the program of the projects that we would do in the course of the course: Stockings, Leggins, Boxer for children and adults, among others, all of us girls were very happy and at the same time very curious about how the stockings were made, after copying the patterns that she gave us, she explained the theory of how to cut and sew the stockings and got down to work, she cut the stockings according to the patterns and in less than 30 minutes the stockings were ready, I was surprised to see how simple and fast it is to make socks, when I got home I got down to work and it took me about 40 minutes to finish the socks, I was very happy to have made them and my son was delighted to measure them, now they are his favorite and asked me to make others with his favorite color which is red, taking advantage of the scraps of fabric left over from the course I made him 3 pairs combining the colors black, red and blue.

To start, I organized the scraps, marked the patterns and cut 6 front pieces, 6 heels and 6 heel complements.

I pinned the heel (red fabric) and heel complement (black fabric), sewed a straight seam all around the curve and then zig zagged it.

I faced right sides together the heel piece and heel complement (already sewn) with the front part, pinned and sewed straight and zig zag stitching, leaving the top part unstitched.

I cut 2 strips of 18 cm long by 5 cm wide (to make the piping), sewed the ends with a straight stitch and folded.

Facing right sides together the stocking and the piping (the piping inside the stocking) I pinned and sewed with a straight stitch on the back side, then I turned over and the stocking is ready.

To sew the live to the stocking I took the box out of the machine, making these 3 pairs of stockings was very fast and fun, the fabric used in this project was Rib; I thank God that I had the opportunity to finish the course and learn a little more about sewing techniques and making new garments, regarding the stockings my son is very happy with his 2 and 3 color stockings.

How fabulous, @belkyscabrera !! I love how this pattern could be made into slippers/ pantofoli by using thick wool or suchlike: I always wanted to make some nice slippers and house socks, so this inspires me a lot! Many thanks for sharing :-D

Greetings @clareartista, that's right the pattern is very versatile you can use it to make slippers and socks with different types of fabric, wool is an excellent choice to keep your feet safe from the cold.

Blessings!

ooh...so cool!! socks are so easy to do, I was sure it's much harder;))

Hi @taliakerch, I also thought the stockings were difficult to make but in the course I realized that they are simple to make and in a short time.

Greetings!

do you have a professional sewing machine? I'm going to buy one, and don't know what to choose.

My machine is not professional, it is one of those that are called "domestic", which have the basic functions for those who start sewing, do you know the basics of sewing? if so you could opt for an industrial or a basic one that has several stitches to make beautiful designs.

In the stores, you can find several models to suit your requirements, the sellers can guide you on which one would be right for you according to their functions.

Greetings!

no, I've no skills so it's better to choose the most primitive one, I think:)

In that case you would opt for one with basic functions, you can help you with internet tutorials, so you can learn the basics; how to thread, fill the bobbins, and select the stitches, nowadays the machines come with an instruction video that will be very useful.

Greetings!

Greetings @coromoto20, thank you for your beautiful comment, I'm glad you liked them, they are very simple to make.
