Saludos, esta semana me dediqué a un pequeño proyecto de costura a mano que le había prometido a mi hijo, como casi todo los niños pequeños es aficionado a los superhéroes, él me pidió que le hiciera una cortina de Spiderman para la habitación, realmente yo dudaba que en mi ciudad pudiera conseguir una tela con ese estampado, pero finalmente esta semana conseguí en una pequeña tienda una tela estampada con los superhéroes de Marvel, lo malo es que estaba fuera de mi presupuesto, sin embargo la tela tenia de ancho 1.50 metros entonces decidí comprar solo 1 metro y aprovechar al máximo el ancho para lograr hacer la cortina.
Greetings, this week I started to do a small hand sewing project that I had promised to my son, as almost all young children are fond of superheroes, he asked me to make a Spiderman curtain for the room, I really doubted that in my city I could get a fabric with that print, but finally this week I got in a small store a fabric printed with Marvel superheroes, the bad thing is that it was out of my budget, however the fabric width was 1. 50 meters so I decided to buy only 1 meter and make the most of the width to make the curtain.
No todo resultó bien con mi idea, resulta ser que los superhéroes estampados venían en posición horizontal al rollo de tela es decir, del metro que compré no podía utilizar en ancho en posición vertical sin dejar a los superhéroes acostados, mi hijo es muy detallista igual que yo, así que tuve que idear un plan para aprovechar la tela sin tener que dejar los superhéroes en esa posición.
Not everything turned out well with my idea, it turns out that the printed superheroes came in a horizontal position to the fabric roll, that is, from the meter I bought I couldn't use the width vertically without leaving the superheroes lying down, my son is very detail oriented just like me, so I had to come up with a plan to take advantage of the fabric without having to leave the superheroes in that position.
Lo primero que hice fue cortar bien la tela, porque las vendedoras suelen cortar las telas estampadas de manera muy descuidada, entonces las figuras no quedan parejas conforme a las dimensiones del corte, una vez hecho eso corté la tela de forma cuadrada para aprovechar el excedente y coserlo a la parte de arriba.
The first thing I did was to cut the fabric well, because the saleswomen usually cut the printed fabrics in a very careless way, so the figures are not even according to the dimensions of the cut, once that was done I cut the fabric in a square shape to take advantage of the surplus and sew it to the top.
Como las figuras debían coincidir, hice lo mejor posible por hacer que la tela que iba a coser en la parte de arria coincidieran con las figuras de la parte de abajo, para ello tuve que dividir el excedente de la tela en tres partes e hice una especie de rompecabezas que armé en la parte de arriba.
As the figures had to match, I did my best to make the fabric I was going to sew on the top match the figures on the bottom, so I had to divide the excess fabric into three parts and made a kind of puzzle that I put together on the top.
Los demás retazos los uní y los cosí para hacer la parte de arriba donde va el tubo que sostiene la cortina, por eso las direcciones del estampado no era importante allí.
The rest of the scraps I joined and sewed them together to make the top part where the tube that holds the curtain goes, so the directions of the pattern were not important there.
Debo decir que todo lo cosí a mano porque a pesar de que he preguntado en muchas partes no he podido conseguir a alguien que repare mi vieja máquina de coser en mi ciudad, pero no dejo que eso me desanime y aunque coser esta cortina a mano me levó dos días , algo que con la maquina fuera tardado solo unos minutos de costura, igualmente estoy feliz con el resultado, puede ser que otra persona menos detallista no le fuera importando usar la tela de manera completa para la cortina a pesar de que lo héroes quedaran acostados, pero mi hijo y yo no podríamos vivir con eso jeje, aunque quedó un poco pequeña para el tamaño de la ventana la recompensa que obtuve fue el agradecimiento y el abrazo de mi hijo cuando me dijo “Gracias mami por la cortina”
I must say that I sewed everything by hand because even though I have asked around I have not been able to get someone to repair my old sewing machine in my city, but I don't let that discourage me and even though it took me two days to sew this curtain by hand, something that with the machine would have taken only a few minutes of sewing, I am still happy with the result, maybe someone less detail oriented wouldn't mind using the whole fabric for the curtain even though the heroes were lying down, but my son and I couldn't live with that hehe, although it was a little small for the size of the window the reward I got was the thanks and hug from my son when he told me "Thank you mommy for the curtain".

Hola Irene, quedó muy bien la cortina, y que bueno que te hayas preocupado por que la estampa quede bien posicionada. Vos y tu hijo igual de preocupados por eso, me encantó jajaja. Es cierto que las telas estampadas son carísimas, yo quiero comprar tela para mis proyectos pero la más económica es la lisa así que todas mis bombachas y corpiños son negros lisos jajajaj. Cuando sea más millonaria voy a comprar estampadas 😂.
jajajajaja Laura yo también quiero comprar muchas cosas, esa tiendita a pesar de no ser muy grande tenia muchas telas estampadas que yo deseaba pero no me alcanzaba lo que cargaba. Algún día lo lograremos <3
Wao Irene, primero te felicito por coser a mano, a mi particularmente no me gusta a parte de que necesito lentes. Ese detalle de buscarle otro sentido a la pieza te quedo genial.

Sewing by hand is a lot of work, it is really awesome what mothers do for their children. I'm glad you were able to find a way to make the fabric work for you. It's truly amazing.
