Hace una semana vi el reto promovido por la @ocd en esta bella Comunidad de @NeedleWorkMonday que no conocía, inmediatamente fui a desempolvar mis cajas de materiales de plastic canva para poder participar en este Reto y retomar un hobbie que me encanta.

A week ago I saw the challenge promoted by the @ocd in this beautiful @NeedleWorkMonday Community that I didn't know about, I immediately went to dust off my boxes of plastic canva materials so I could participate in this Challenge and resume a hobby that I love.
Plastic-canvas es una técnica especial para bordar, y consiste en bordar sobre una rejilla de plástico. Con esta técnica se pueden realizar hermosas labores como servilleteros, marcalibros, portalápices, portaretratos, cestas, llaveros, imanes para la nevera, entre otras muchas cosas. Hay infinidad de trabajos que se pueden hacer con mucho ingenio e imaginación; de hecho, todos los años decoro mi árbol de navidad con plastic-canvas.
Esta técnica me encanta, entre muchas otras que trabajo a menudo. En general, las manualidades me gustan mucho, de joven siempre ayudaba a mi familia y amistades a ornamentar sus casas en los cumpleaños, carnavales, fiestas decembrinas, etc. He realizado muchos cursos que me ayudaron en mi profesión y también a generar recursos económicos.
Plastic-canvas is a special embroidery technique that consists of embroidering on a plastic grid. With this technique you can make beautiful works such as napkin rings, bookmarks, pencil holders, picture frames, baskets, key chains, fridge magnets, among many other things. There are countless works that can be done with a lot of ingenuity and imagination; in fact, every year I decorate my Christmas tree with plastic-canvas.
I love this technique, among many others that I often work with. In general, I like crafts very much, when I was young I always helped my family and friends to decorate their houses for birthdays, carnivals, Christmas parties, etc. I have taken many courses that helped me in my profession and also to generate economic resources.
A la par de mi trabajo también ayudaba a mis hijas en todo lo relativo a las decoraciones, adornos, tareas y fiestas en general. Ya jubilada, aún sigo elaborando manualidades porque forman parte de mi vida.
I studied teaching in special education and I always taught handicrafts to my students, "my angels", as I have always called them. And it was such a great satisfaction for me to teach a child with Down Syndrome to trace, tear, glue, draw, model, paint, trimming, string, embroider and the endless things that come with teaching. Seeing their achievements, each one within their possibilities, was my greatest joy.
Along with my work, I also helped my daughters in everything related to decorations, ornaments, homework and parties in general. Now retired, I still continue to make crafts because they are part of my life.
Instrucciones generales / General instructions.
Los diseños o dibujos se representan gráficamente por puntadas.
Cortar: se usa un marcador fino para delinear el contorno de la pieza a cortar en la canva. Se corta por el contorno marcado.
Se quita el exceso de tinta antes de empezar a bordar.
Se cortan las esquinas en diagonal sin debilitar el ángulo y se rematan cuidadosamente todos los cortes para que no queden picos de plástico.
Hilos: cualquier hilo que cubra las canvas puede utilizarse para el bordado, generalmente se trabaja con estambre.
- Most of the designs are made with number 7 canvas plastic.
- The designs or patterns are represented graphically by stitches.
- Cutting: a fine marker is used to outline the contour of the piece to be cut on the canva.
- Cut along the marked outline.
- Excess ink is removed before starting to embroider.
- Cut the corners diagonally without weakening the angle and carefully finish off all the cuts so that there are no plastic peaks.
- Threads: any thread that covers the canvas can be used for embroidery, usually worsted is used.

Puntadas utilizadas / Stitches used:
PERRITO
Para la elaboración de este marcalibros usé los siguientes puntos: continental, puntada recta, punto de nudo y puntada para cubrir. Se realizó con estambre marrón y negro y se decoró con ojitos de plástico.
CERDITO
Para este marcalibros usé los siguientes puntos: continental, punto de nudo y puntada para cubrir. Se realizó con estambre color rosa pálido y fucsia.
UNICORNIO
Para este marcalibros usé los siguientes puntos: punto continental, punto de nudo y puntada para cubrir. Para el pelo, se deshilachó el estambre y se adornó con flores de colores. Se realizó con colores blanco, rosado, morado, amarillo, azul claro y oscuro.
DOG
To make this bookmark I used the following stitches: continental, straight stitch, knot stitch and cover stitch. It was made with brown and black worsted and decorated with plastic eyes.
PIG
For this bookmark I used the following stitches: continental, knot stitch and cover stitch. It was made with pale pink and fuchsia worsted yarn.
UNICORN
For this bookmark I used the following stitches: continental stitch, knot stitch and cover stitch. For the hair, the yarn was frayed and decorated with colorful flowers. It was made with white, pink, purple, yellow, light and dark blue colors.
Paso 3 / Step 3:
Una vez están bordadas todas las piezas, se ensamblan usando silicón caliente. Cuidando que no se esparza y dañe la figura. Igualmente, los accesorios como los ojitos y las flores se pegan con el silicón.
De este modo obtenemos estos bellos marcalibros:
Once all the pieces are embroidered, they are assembled using hot silicone. Be careful not to spread and damage the figure. Likewise, the accessories such as the eyes and flowers are glued with silicone.

Esta técnica me encanta, siento que representa mi carácter porque me brinda la posibilidad de hacer muchas cosas diferentes y hermosas con una utilidad, además me ha servido para regalar detalles a las personas que quiero, para elaborar recuerditos para las fiestas y hacer algunas cosas para mis nietos como cajas para guardar sus colores, entre otras muchas cosas.
Ha sido una forma de plasmar mi amor y de compartir lo que hago.
I love this technique, I feel that it represents my character because it gives me the possibility of making many different and beautiful things with a utility, it has also helped me to give gifts to the people I love, to make souvenirs for the holidays and to make some things for my grandchildren as boxes to keep their colors, among many other things.
It has been a way to express my love and to share what I do.

I really enjoyed reading your post and it brung back some memories of mine . My mother has been sewing for years and she always had friends who also loved to do crafts. I remember getting one of these types of bookmarks. I didn’t know they were called plastic-canvas.

Me parece que el resultado de lo que se realice va permanecer en el tiempo, por lo resistente del plástico de base.
