Cherish a gift to not let it go

Everyone of us at one time or the other have received gifts from parents friends and loved ones.

These gifts can come in any form be it books, diaries, jotters or even clothing items.

I felt the love in this post when here @crosheille received the gift of a dull of herself and has hunged its picture at her profile ever aince the love and joy was overwhelming and these are thing we cherish for a long time.

That is what gifts makes us feel.

But what if you have been gifted an item you do not have a use for, or probably an oversized top like the one I have here 😃😂

Would you gift them away as well? So that the love would be pass on to another or rather thought of the best idea to transform them into something that can be of good use to you as well.

I was gifted these by a warm loving God mother and I bet you can see how these are totally not wearable for me 😃😁😆.

Various ideas came for me to cut and resize it been a needle worker but I can't afford to loss a piece of it...

Here is the magic.

I opened up the former stitches
And pulled the oversized top to my size through a simple gathering using a smoking thread.

It was one of the good ideas that came to my mind and am ever proud to have thought in that direction.

Trying to resize this can be a little difficult or I may end up damaging the whole piece all together trying to fit a bust line where it does not exist.

I wouldn't want to loss this dress in that process and with this simple task, I have smoked the top to my exact size and I can keep the love that came with the gift of this top cherishing it until I can no longer use it.

I love white even though blue and cream seem to be my favorite colors, there is a way white brings out the colors of my face and brighten it up.

The only challenge I face remaking this top is the fact that I have to reel the stretchy smoking thread by hand, a machine wouldn't do that as the thread won't stay on it.
Reeling with my hand will make it hold unto it and its quite time consuming.

Its finally done and I love the new top 💃💃💃

What have you been gifted and cannot let go even if they aren't useful to you?...

I totally understand you that you did not want to give the blouse away although it at first did not fit you. The wide sleeves with the lace are so lovely it would be a shame to not wear the blouse. But on the other side ill fitting clothes are not uplifting either… So your idea to gather the whole body is perfect. So far I have not tried out to smok smothering but I really want to. I love this kind of body for summer dresses. But I fear exactly what happened to you, that my machine would not do it and I had to hand-sew (which I really do not like :-D) But you managed it wonderfully. Love how you transformed the blouse 😍

Thanks dear, the lace was my main motivation, they are so beautiful and I don't want to let go.

Hope you are having a good day and good weather.

I have a babies dress due to be delivered tomorrow, am still working on it while its daylight before I can read through the wonderful post we have on our community today.

Very cool white work 🤗👌👌👌🍷 I'm sure you was like it very too.

Wait, are you just waking up 😂😁
I just can't process what you typed.

Thanks anyway 💖🌷🌹

Yep ... it is morning here I was just wake up :)))

Beautiful dear

Gifts are special, and you've actually proven that to me...
The effort you put to make the dress to your fit has already proven how much you really love the dress and would want to keep it..
Well, that's nice, maybe I should be like you when I get to receive such kind of gift after a very long time though...😊😊

Yes dearie, we should cherish every gift given to us.
Thanks.

This is so beautiful I can see how you cherish it so well 😂

I love this @monica-ene! Thank you for mentioning me, my post and my cherished gift. I couldn’t wait to make her my profile so I could keep on sharing her. 😊

I hope this post inspires others to try making the best use out of a gift before being so quick to give it away. I love what you have done with this. You are such a skillful seamstress and the transformation of this fabric looks amazing on you! 💓

Thank you so much 💖💃💃💃

😉❤️

This is the beauty of knowing how to transform a dress yourself, you'll probably not have been able to wear it if you didn't find a way to make it work. Beautiful work with this one

Thanks lovely...

Oh, I know that when they give you the clothes that don't suit you. It really annoys me because I can't put it on, and I can't throw it out either, and I can't even always give it to someone who suits it. as a result, my closet becomes full and not functional. You're doing fine! you came up with very cool !!!!
