SockMadness?
Ich hatte ja letztes Jahr schon über die SockMadness geschrieben. Es ist ein Sockenstrick-Wettbewerb: Es gilt Socken gegen die Uhr zu stricken und sich dabei genauestens an die Anleitung zu halten. Es ist die fünfzehnte SockMadness in diesem Jahr und meine zweite. Ich habe so viel gelernt dabei im letzten Jahr - und einige graue Haare bekommen ;)
I wrote about the SockMadness last year. It's a challenge for knitters: knit a pair of socks, while keeping strictly to the pattern, in a limited space of time. This year is the fifteenth SockMadness and the second where I participate. I learned so much last year - and gained more than a few grey hairs ;)
Die Registrierung war im Februar und seit 1. März warten alle Teilnehmenden gespannt auf die Materialangaben für das erste Sockenpaar. Das kam heute um 10:15 - die Anleitung folgt binnen 48 Stunden. Vom Zeitpunkt, wo die E-Mail mit der Strickanleitung bei mir ankommt, bleiben genau 14 Tage Strickzeit.
Registration is during February and after that all participants wait with bated breath for the information about the specs. That came three hours ago - which means the pattern comes in 45 hours at the latest. I'll have exactly two weeks from the moment the email with the pattern arrives to knit the two socks.
Dies sind die Angaben. Es wird gerade wild spekuliert über den Garnverbrauch der Testenden: Ich brauche für Größe 38 ungefähr 35 Gramm Garn, wieso hier so viel mehr? Vielleicht Fransen? Ich bin soooo gespannt auf die Anleitung!
This is what I need to knit the socks. The amount of yarn needed by the test knitters for one sock invites speculation - normal is 35 to 40 gram for a single sock. Why so much more - perhaps tassles? Can't wait to see the pattern!
Choosing Yarn and Beads
Highly variegated not recommended" - das bedeutet "nicht zu sehr gemustert". Ich habe vier Garne herausgesucht: zwei grau-melierte, ein rostrotes und ein braunes Garn. Perlen in der passenden Größe habe ich in einem matten Oliv und einem dunklen Grün (was mit dem braunen Garn gar nicht geht).
"Highly variegated not recommended" - that's not "solid yarn only", so I gathered several skeins: one solid brown, two marled grays and one tweedy reddish hue. I have two different sorts of beads in the right size: an olive matte one and a green (which I don't like with the brown yarn).

Jetzt hab ich noch die Qual der Wahl. Bei den grauen Garnen gehen beide Perlensorten, aber ansonsten... Was meint ihr?
So - which combination? The beads work with both gray yarns, but the coloured yarns... what do you think?
