Needleworkmonday: Fortschritte beim Streifenpullover / Striped Sweater [Ger/Eng]

in NeedleWorkMonday4 years ago

Since last week, I've made a little progress on my sweater. The needles are a bit thicker and can be held well even with my thumb, which is still a bit sensitive. Despite the difficulty of estimating the exact width when knitting, I am satisfied with the result. The collar folds over in the photo, but that doesn't happen when I wear the sweater.

On the next picture you can see the planned development. I put orange fabric underneath in about the same size as the sweater should have. The small yellow ring shows where I am in the stripes, the green one shows the end of the pattern. For a better idea I laid out the two black threads, so you can see where the stripes will be. After that the cuff comes right away.

Farbstoffbox verschönert / New Box for Dyeing Colous

Apart from that I didn't do much, just played around a little. You know I dyed yarn a few times with food colourants, and I wanted to have all these colors in one place. From @neumannsalva I got two small jars with orange and green - I am looking forward to try them out.

So I sat in the kitchen, pondered about where and how to keep these colourants properly and then saw a plastic container on the shelf with had had salad in it. The container seemed to me to be good for this purpose: it is transparent so that you can see the contents and you can close it tightly.

Unfortunately, on top of it was a picture of the former contents... So I searched through my handicraft stuff and found two things: an old white acrylic paint and decoupage glue. Unfortunately I didn't have any good brushes, so I used an old hairy something to prime the lid with the white paint, it still didn't look very good, but that doesn't matter.

So I did some decoupage for the first time in years. What kind of napkins did I have in the house? Some with sunflowers and then some with hands. Both were tried out: it's not really artistically valuable, but better than before. Besides, nobody sees it in the cupboard!

Kumihimo

And the other day I bought a toy, well, two toys. Somehow they had never crossed my path before, although many people I showed them to knew these discs. With these kumihimo discs you can make ribbons, round and flat, in different patterns. When I have learned more about it, there will be some photos ;)
