I'll be honest, I hated doing crafts and anything to do with thread, needle, paint, drawing and creative ideas. I was sure that crafts were not my thing and for a long, long time, I thought it was an absolute truth.
But as we all know, there is no such thing as absolute truth! And I am living proof of that. As I was changing from childhood to adolescence, my mom, an expert in making knitted beauties tried to teach me, and yes, I tried! But it was so boring!
I made a sweater with uneven sleeves, some socks that were too big for me, I even made baby shoes, but no, that was not my thing, at that time I was more interested in teenage things, for example, going to parties, going out with my friends, doing my homework, and who knows what other things might have crossed my mind at that time.
As the years went by, that is, more than 20 years, my mother had to live with me for a year and a half for health reasons. At that moment something touched my heart and I said to myself, I want to honor her, from what she knows how to do: knitting.
I didn't want to knit clothes, it still seems so boring to me!!!... but I started searching on the internet and I found amigurumis. Those knitted beings, so cute and cuddly, conquered my heart, just by seeing them there on the computer screen.
So I bought needle and thread, printed a pattern and took it to my mom. She looked at me with skeptical eyes as I said "teach me"... she smiled, actually it was a sarcastic smile, she never believed that I was going to learn... and, well, here I am 9 years later.
By the way, my needles are my most precious treasure. I inherited them from mom!
Kawaii
Kawaii is a way of knitting amigurumis and consists of starting from a ball... it is the simplest of all amigurumis, because everything starts from a ball. They are usually heads or just the head and in pastel colors.
At the beginning everything I knitted was kawaii, ideal for a beginner, so I made a lot of them! Here is a comparison between the ones I made when I was a beginner and the ones I made 9 years later.
Classics.
They are amigurumis with long and thin bodies. They look more like a stuffed animal. So I very timidly ventured into this type of knitted doll. I had no idea of the dimensions, I've always had trouble with patterns. I don't like to read them. Plus knitting with a pattern means you have to be counting all the stitches and placing markers. And me, I declare myself somewhat disorganized about it.
Frikis
These are freestyle amigurumis, which means you can give your imagination free rein. With this type of amigurumi, you can make characters from movies, anime, cartoons and whatever you can think of. The truth is, knitting a geek amigurumi is quite a challenge and I am in a constant learning process.
I know I still have a long way to go, but looking at the photos I have discovered that I have come a long way in the last year and that is definitely thanks to you dear friends of #needleworkmonday.
Seeing each of your projects and explanations I have been enriching myself and filling me with motivation to make my amigurumis a little better every day. I can not complain, I am very happy with the result of the progress in my crafts.
So much creativity has overflowed #hive in me, I have made dolls from eggshells and now I am starting to paint mandalas. So on reflection, yes, I am a woman who loves to do crafts even when more than 20 years ago I thought that was impossible in me.

Les voy a ser sincera, yo detestaba hacer manualidades y todo lo que tuviera que ver con hilo, aguja, pintura, dibujo e ideas creativas. Estaba segura que las manualidades no eran lo mío y durante mucho, pero mucho tiempo, pensé que era una verdad absoluta.
Pero como sabemos amigas lectoras, la verdad absoluta no existe! Y yo soy prueba viviente de ello. Mientras iba cambiando de la niñez a la adolescencia, mi mamá una experta en hacer bellezas tejidas trató de enseñarme, y si, lo intenté! Pero era tan aburrido!!!
Fabriqué un sweter con las mangas disparejas, unas medias que me quedaban muy grandes, hasta hice zapatitos para bebé, pero no, eso no era lo mío, en esa época estaba más interesada en cosas de adolescentes, por ejemplo, ir a fiestas, salir con mis amigos, cumplir con mis deberes escolares, y quien sabe que otras tantas cosas me habrán pasado por la cabeza en aquella época.
Con el pasar de los años, o sea, más de 20 años, mi mamá tuvo por motivos de salud, que vivir conmigo durante un año y medio. En ese momento algo tocó mi corazón y me dije, quiero honrarla, desde lo que ella sabe hacer: tejer.
No quería tejer ropa, todavía me sigue pareciendo tan aburrido!!!... pero comencé a buscar en internet y me encontré con los amigurumis. Esos seres tejidos, tan tiernos y adorables conquistaron mi corazón, solo con verlos ahí en la pantalla del computador.
Así que compré aguja e hilo, imprimí un patrón y se lo llevé a mi mamá. Ella con ojos de escéptica me miró al tiempo que le decía “enséñame”… ella sonrió, la verdad fue una sonrisa sarcástica, nunca creyó que yo iba a aprender … y, pues por aquí estoy 9 años más tarde.
Por cierto, mis agujas son mi más preciado tesoro. Las heredé de mamá!
Kawaii
Kawaii es una forma de tejer los amigurumis y consiste en partir de una bolita… es el más sencillo de todos los amigurumis, pues todo parte de una bolita. Suelen ser cabezones o solo la cabeza y en colores pasteles.
Al principio todo lo que tejía era kawaii, ideal para una principiante, así que hice muchos! Por aquí les dejo la comparación entre los que hice de principiante y 9 años más tarde.
Clásicos
Son amigurumis de cuerpos alargados y delgados. Se parecen más a un peluche. Así que muy tímidamente me aventuré en este tipo de muñeco tejido. No tenía idea de las dimensiones, siempre he tenido problemas con los patrones. No me gusta leerlos. Además tejer con patrón significa que tienes que estar contando todos los puntos que se hacen y colocar marcadores. Y yo, me declaro un tanto desorganizada al respecto.
Frikis
Son amigurumis estilo libre, eso quiere decir que le puedes dar alas abiertas a la imaginación. Con este tipo de amigurumi, se pueden fabricar personajes de películas, animes, comiquitas y lo que se te ocurra. La verdad, tejer un amigurumi friki es todo un reto y yo estoy en proceso de aprendizaje constante.
Sé que me queda mucho camino por recorrer, pero al ver las fotos he descubierto que he avanzado mucho en el último año y eso definitivamente queridas amigas de #needleworkmonday es gracias a ustedes.
Al ver cada uno de sus proyectos y explicaciones he ido enriqueciéndome y llenándome de motivación para hacer mis amigurumis cada día un poco mejor. No me puedo quejar, estoy muy feliz con el resultado del avance en mis manualidades.
Es tanta la creatividad que ha desbordado #hive en mí, que he hecho muñecos a partir de cascaras de huevos y ahora estoy comenzando a pintar mándalas. Entonces reflexionando, sí, soy una mujer que adora hacer manualidades aun cuando hace más de 20 años pensaba que eso era imposible en mí.

Me encantó leerte, sobre todo por el hecho de que ni tu misma conocías ese gran potencial que tenias en tus venas, me imagino ahora tu mamá muy para adentro como (te lo dije) jejeje ellas a veces nos conocen mejor que nosotras mismas, se nota el avance que haz tenido y es cierto uno siempre tiene cierto desinterés en realizar algunas cosas, lo tuyo no es las prendas y es comprensible. Yo sigo esperando mi etapa de adolescencia, jaja. Una pregunta ¿recuerdas cuántos amigurumis tejiste?. Ayer estaba pensando en eso y la verdad ya perdí la cuenta. El recorrido está lindo y resalta la mejora en la anatomía (proporciones prolijas) y la forma proporcional del relleno. Una cosa de la cual aprendí en estos meses y de la que estoy segura es que todo se puede cambiar, si así lo decides.
Sin darme cuenta parece que tejo friki, en sí tejo lo que me llama la atención o sino a pedido. ¡Buenas vibras!.
Jajaja @inici-arte , la etapa de la adolescencia fue rebeldía total en mi caso, y luego de tantos años volví al origen, pero eso sí, a tejer lo que me gusta:amigurumis.

Hola @tibaire es una aventura lo que cuentas...buena manera de honrar a tu madre con tomar esa iniciativa de que te enseñara a tejer...muy bonito tu trabajo y lo bueno que es esa actividad para centrarse en emociones. Las mandalas también tienen su función hacerlas y colorearlas, como técnica para centrar las energías.

Hola @mercmarg te cuento que para mí tejer es una terapia, es meditación activa. cada puntada me centra en el aquí y el ahora. Cuando estoy estresada o preocupada tejo, es mi terapia.
