En esta oportunidad, les cuento un poco, de cómo surgió un proyecto y se convirtió en una marca personal, que cree junto a mi esposa para confeccionar short deportivos.
In this opportunity, I will tell you a little about how a project emerged and became a personal brand, which I created with my wife to make sports shorts.
El año pasado cuando comenzó la pandemia del COVID-19 en Venezuela, la industria petrolera, la cual es mi sitio de trabajo, nos envió a todos para nuestras casas por nuestra seguridad, pero esto conllevaba a que nuestros sueldos fuesen disminuyendo hasta el punto de ser insignificante y que no alcanzara para nada.
Last year when the COVID-19 pandemic started in Venezuela, the oil industry, which is my workplace, sent us all home for our safety, but this meant that our salaries were decreasing to the point of being insignificant and not enough for anything.
Como todos conocen la situación económica de Venezuela, me vi obligado a buscar otras fuentes de ingresos, y como siempre he practicado deportes al aire libre e ir al gimnasio le dije a mi esposa que por que no confeccionábamos short deportivos para vender. Con esta idea comenzamos a buscar modelos para sacar el patrón de corte y no encontramos algo que nos gustara, razón por la que decimos desarmar uno de los que yo usaba e intentar dibujar los patrones para las diferentes tallas.
As everyone knows the economic situation in Venezuela, I was forced to look for other sources of income, and as I have always practiced outdoor sports and go to the gym I told my wife that why not make sports shorts to sell. With this idea we started to look for models to draw the cutting pattern and we did not find something we liked, so we decided to disassemble one of the ones I used to wear and try to draw the patterns for the different sizes.
Les confieso que fue una semana difícil pero no nos dimos por vencidos, ninguno de los dos sabíamos nada de patrones, de tallas, de telas ni mucho de costuras. Pero un familiar me guio para poder sacar todas las tallas S, M, L, XL y XXL
I confess that it was a difficult week but we did not give up, neither of us knew anything about patterns, sizes, fabrics or sewing. But a family member guided me to make all the sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.
Luego que teníamos los patrones y la tela seleccionada con la cual hacemos nuestros short, que es una tela llamada Lafayette, me dedique a buscar una imagen para crear una marca. Buscando por internet ubique la foto de un perro de raza Buldog Ingles, el cual me gusta mucho, y fue por esto que decidí colocar la logo con esa imagen del perro. Seguido a esto, estaba el nombre, pero no fue muy complicado ya que soy fanático de Wolverine de los Hombres X, y me pareció interesante nombrar la marca LOGAN.
After we had the patterns and the fabric selected with which we make our shorts, which is a fabric called Lafayette, I started looking for an image to create a brand. Searching the internet I found a picture of an English Bulldog dog, which I like a lot, and that's why I decided to place the logo with that image of the dog. Next was the name, but it wasn't very complicated since I'm a fan of Wolverine from X-Men, and I thought it was interesting to name the brand LOGAN.
Listo nombre y logo, trabaje en PowerPoint para luego enviar la idea preliminar a un Diseñador, y luego de definir mejorar algunas cosas quedo definido, y se elaboraron las etiquetas con las diferentes tallas que ofreceríamos.
Ready name and logo, I worked in PowerPoint to then send the preliminary idea to a designer, and after defining and improving some things it was defined, and the labels with the different sizes that we would offer were elaborated.
Durante el tiempo de elaboración de etiquetas, mi esposa y yo nos encargamos de comprar la tela, elástica, forro y cordones para las primeras muestras de cada short, y al llegar a nuestra casa, iniciamos el proceso de medidas y cortes de telas.
During the label making time, my wife and I were in charge of buying the fabric, elastic, lining and laces for the first samples of each short, and when we arrived at our house, we started the process of measuring and cutting the fabrics.
Una vez realizado todos los cortes de tela, muy organizadamente llevamos este trabajo a ese familiar que comente anteriormente, para realizar el cierre o costura de los shorts, ya que en ese momento no teníamos máquina de coser ni mucho menos sabíamos utilizar una. Obtuvimos un resultado satisfactorio, mucho más del esperado, ya que estaban muy bien confeccionados y con buena calidad.
Once all the fabric cuts were made, we took this work to the family member I mentioned before, to make the sewing of the shorts, since at that time we didn't have a sewing machine and we didn't even know how to use one. We obtained a satisfactory result, much more than expected, since they were very well made and with good quality.
Actualmente seguimos creciendo, en cuanto a q logramos incorporar en nuestro catálogo un short deportivo fresco y cómodo para dama, y en nuestros planes esta incluir otros productos más. Así como también, mi esposa inicio un curso de corte y costura, con la finalidad de que en un futuro muy cercano, seamos nosotros mismos los fabricantes por completo de nuestras ideas.
Currently we continue to grow, in terms of q we managed to incorporate in our catalog a fresh and comfortable sports shorts for women, and in our plans is to include other products. Also, my wife started a cutting and sewing course, with the aim that in the very near future, we will be ourselves the manufacturers of our ideas.

This story is quite amazing. It’s really inspiring how you looked at your situation and together with your wife took risks and and took matters into your own hands by starting a business. The shorts are very professional and you can see that they are of quality. I love the logo and the name of your brand as I am an X-Men fan as well :)
