[What anime marked your childhood?] [Eng | Esp] Fullmetal Alchemist

in HIVE-CONlast year
Welcome my dear internet travelers who love anime and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, the other day the traveler @carminasalazarte mentioned me in a curious initiative about an anime that has marked us in childhood, honestly it took me a while. little time to think about the anime that marked me as a child, I considered several possibilities: Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Saint Seiya, Idaten Jump, Eyeshield 21, blah blah blah, however the final boss who deserves to sit on that throne is not neither more nor less than the excellent "Fullmetal Alchemist". Without more to add, come with me to do a little alchemy that we are about to begin.

I am not going to go into technical data or which adaptation is better because it would be redundant, at the time I made a detailed review which I will leave a link at the end of the post. I clarify the point, I am going to be quite subjective about the reasons why it is one of the animes that definitely marked me and made me see the anime differently. Previously I mentioned some shonens that I was already watching during my childhood, however many of them repeated the same formulas: Be the strongest, defend something, all seasoned with fights that had their own combat system, however FMA was different in many ways. reasons.

The first thing that caught me was the fact that its protagonist felt very human, making many mistakes and maturing to be able to face all the problems that arose. Added to this is the fact that he did not pursue a noble or disinterested goal by to establish himself as a three-dimensional and complex protagonist. This development is not limited only to Edward, characters like Roy Mustang, Alphonse, Maes Huhges, Alex Louis Armstrong (One of my favorites), in my opinion these are the characters that have the best development during the anime although it is necessary to mention that there are others characters who also have a good focus to explore their stories.

Okay, it's clear that I love developing more than one character though, is that all? Nope, another notable point that fascinated me about this anime was its combat system because it doesn't matter how powerful a character is because strategy and skill are more important and determining factors, this seems simple but the fact that any character with a good ability could defeat a stronger one was something that just grabbed me and kept me waiting.

I mentioned both the characters and the combat style but there is something else that made this anime something that marked a before and after, I am talking of course about its ability to generate scenes with an extremely large emotional charge, capture in a spectacular way suffering and pain to the point that a simple scene can soften the hearts of the audience. This makes the plot adopt a more serious tone thanks to emotional scenes such as: Hugh's scene (Great piece of scene), Nina's scene, Mustang vs. Lust, and a great etc., these scenes were not acts for a child although despite this they opened my eyes to something new because it raised before me the certainty that an anime can deal with dense and serious topics in the correct way. The reason that Fullmetal Alchemist scored corrected the concept he had of animes by being the first shonen to take himself seriously and build a plot full of mature things like death, political conflicts and facing crude situations, that anime that made it clear to me that this industry has much more to offer than just jokes and rampant violence.

I had a hard time staying interested in anime with over a 100+ episodes due to it seeming like it would never end. I prefer anime that sticks to 25-30 episodes and those are the ones that I can instantly recall with fond memories. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop were the two that marked my childhood and left a good impression that is still valid in my life.

FMA is a great choice! The way it tackles each characters stories and the reasonings behind their logic/choices is extremely in depth. Thank you for sharing! It was a fun read.

I understand perfectly what you mean about animes of more than 100 chapters due to keeping both their cool ideas and their fresh goals for that amount of time is a very difficult task, although it does not apply to any of the versions of FMA since they do not have that amount of chapters I agree with what you mention.

Regarding Cowboy and Trigun they are both animes that I saw a long time ago and that although I remember with affection I must see them again to understand I put some things in. Thank you very much for reading and leaving a comment, I send you a big hug from a distance. 💜🤗

Brooo I've been planning on watching this anime. It's in my watchlist. Hell, I'll watch it once I'm done w Bleach and Bungo stray dogs 🥹...
And I think the anime I started with should probably be pokemon?😂
