Recientemente he visto el corte del director Zack Snyder de la película Liga de la Justicia, que es el crossover más importante realizado hasta la fecha entre los héroes del Universo Extendido de DC (DCEU por sus siglas en ingles), es decir el cruce entre la Mujer Maravilla, Superman, Batman y compañía. Aunque no suelo realizar artículos sobre esta editorial de cómics ni sus adaptaciones al cine, debido a que en esta plataforma contamos con un usuario como @rodrikun17 que posee mucho mayor conocimiento que yo sobre sus historias, en esta oportunidad ha llamado tanto mi atención lo ocurrido con esta película, no solo en lo referente al contenido que posee en sí misma, sino por las circunstancias que la rodean, entonces no puedo dejar de escribir mis opiniones al respecto. Además, el amigo Rodrigo (a quien envió un saludo y le deseo mucho excito) parece estar un poco ocupado últimamente, ya que no ha sido muy activo en la comunidad, espero realizar un post tan completo como lo haría él.
En primera instancia, debo hacer un repaso del contexto en que se lleva a cabo esta producción, lo cual me parce algo inédito y que podría marcar un antes y un después en la forma como influye el público sobre la creación de los productos cinematográficas hollywoodenses, más allá del pago o no de una entrada a una sala de cine. Podría decirse que todo comónzó cuando el director original de la cinta, Zack Snyder, quien ya había dirigido dos de las entregas más importantes del DCEU hasta el momento, es decir “El hombre de acero” de 2013 y “Batman v Superman: El origen de la justicia” de 2016, fue impactado por una terrible tragedia familiar, el suicidio de su hija Autumn Snyder de tan solo 20 años de edad.
A consecuencia de ello, Snyder decidió apartarse de la película y fue reemplazado por su colega Joss Whedon, quien recibió la orden de terminar el trabajo recortando el metraje estipulado por el anterior responsable de la dirección y, además de ello, aprovechando la ocasión para realizar los cambios que el estudio cinematográfico deseaba aplicar al tono oscuro de la saga que venía construyendo el autor hasta ese momento. In the first instance, I must review the context in which this production takes place, which seems to me something unprecedented and that could mark a before and after in the way in which the public influences the creation of Hollywood cinematographic products, beyond the payment or not of a ticket to a movie theater. It could be said that everything began when the original director of the film, Zack Snyder, who had already directed two of the most important installments of the DCEU so far, that is "The Man of Steel" of 2013 and "Batman v Superman: The Origin of Justice ”of 2016, was struck by a terrible family tragedy, the suicide of his daughter Autumn Snyder, only 20 years old.

Personalmente, cuando comencé a escuchar (o leer) sobre el revuelo que se había desatado en Internet con todo esto, pensé que en caso de concretarse la reedición de esta película, el resultado no tendría por qué ser muy diferente de lo mostrado anteriormente, pues sería simplemente la misma historia con la incorporación de algunas escenas que no hubiéramos visto en la primera al haber sido eliminadas por Whedon y quizá la extracción de otras que él hubiese agregado para darle su propio estilo, pero que nada de eso constituiría un cambio muy profundo en la trama y en la calidad general de la cinta, como normalmente ocurre con otros cortes del director. Posteriormente, fui recibiendo mayor información sobre la gran cantidad de modificaciones que había sufrido lo ideado por Snyder y entonces mi interés por la película creció. Finalmente, habiendo por fin disfrutado de esta nueva versión de la Liga de la Justicia, ahora puedo decir que mis expectativas fueron superadas con creses, sin duda considero que es mucho mejor que la anterior en casi todos los aspectos.
Critica sin Spoilers
Comenzare con los puntos negativos que puedo extraer de este largometraje, uno de ellos es precisamente lo largo que es, tiene una duración de aproximadamente cuatro horas de inicio a fin, por lo que ha sido dividido en capítulos de una duración aproximada entre cada uno de ellos, con el propósito de hacer más fácil su visualización, lo cual se hace más propicio por el hecho de estar siendo distribuido mediante una plataforma de streaming, de modo que el usuario puede paralizar la reproducción y consumir el producto a su propio ritmo, incluso por capítulos como si se tratara de una serie. Sí esta hubiera sido una producción destinada a ser proyectada en cines, su duración y el ritmo de algunas escenas pudiera ser contraproducente, ya que en algunos momentos se siente demasiado lenta la dinámica de la historia.

Personally, when I started to hear (or read) about the uproar that had been unleashed on the Internet with all this, I thought that if the reissue of this film were to materialize, the result would not have to be very different from what was previously shown, since It would simply be the same story with the incorporation of some scenes that we would not have seen in the first as they had been eliminated by Whedon and perhaps the extraction of others that he had added to give it his own style, but none of that would constitute a very profound change. in the plot and the overall quality of the film, as is usually the case with other directorial cuts. Later, I received more information about the large number of modifications that Snyder's idea had undergone and then my interest in the film grew. Finally, having finally enjoyed this new version of the Justice League, I can now say that my expectations were exceeded with creses, I certainly consider it to be much better than the previous one in almost every aspect.
Review without Spoilers
I will start with the negative points that I can extract from this feature film, one of them is precisely how long it is, it lasts approximately four hours from start to finish, so it has been divided into chapters of an approximate duration between each one of them, in order to make it easier to view, which is more conducive to the fact that it is being distributed through a streaming platform, so that the user can paralyze the reproduction and consume the product at their own pace, even by chapters as if it were a series. If this had been a production destined to be screened in cinemas, its duration and the rhythm of some scenes could be counterproductive, since at times the dynamics of the story feel too slow.
Un punto que puede considerarse como una extensión del anterior, es la incorporación dentro de la película de la mayor parte del capítulo final o epilogo, que se siente como una escena post créditos demasiado extendida y que está allí con el único propósito de iniciar una nueva batalla mediática, esta vez para que Warner Bros. dé luz verdea la producción de las otras dos películas que este director planifico para su propio universo cinematográfico, al cual ya se le conoce popularmente como el Snyder Verse y se para ello se está empleando la etiqueta #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. Personalmente me encantaría que se realicen esas dos películas, tengo la esperanza de que finalmente sea así, creo que sería un error de la empresa no producir la continuación de ese universo de películas en HBO Max, pero a la vez me parece que esa parte final le resta a la calidad de la película como un todo, pues resulta confusa e incongruente con lo visto hasta ese momento.
Seguramente para los fans más conocedores no es así, pero para quienes solo conocen lo que se ve en la película y no están al tanto de las tramas de las secuelas, creo que resulta extraño y fuera de lugar. Habría preferido que eso hubiese sido liberado luego por el director mediante sus redes sociales, especialmente para los fans más activos y que sirviera para reforzar esa nueva campaña, siendo suministrado al público en pequeñas dosis de material extra que no se hubiera incorporado al Snyder Cut, pero entiendo que seguramente habría impedimentos legales que hicieron que fuera incluido en la propia película, aunque otra manera habría sido incluyéndolo únicamente en la versión en blanco y negro que se ha anunciado y que también contara con otras partes que aún no hemos visto. Por cierto, eso me recuerda otra cosa que no me parece muy buena de la película y es el formato cuadrado 4:3, que provoca barras laterales en las pantallas widescreen, ya que fue pensada para ser estrenada en cines con pantallas IMAX y HBO Max decidió respetar ese formato original, aunque ahora se estuviera dirigiendo a un público televisivo.
Por otra parte, un punto en el que yo prefiero la versión de 2017 es la banda sonora, en especial la interpretación de la canción Everybody Knows en la voz de la cantante Sigrid y también el tema que acompaña a las escenas de la mujer maravilla, pero esto es algo muy personal y subjetivo, además tampoco es que la nueva película tenga una mala música. Aparte de eso y de otras pequeñas cositas puntuales que quizá pudieron no haberme gustado del todo o no me habría molestado si se hubieran mantenido de la forma en que las vimos en la película de 2017, todo lo demás en esta nueva versión de la Liga de la Justicia me parece enormemente superior a lo mostrado en la primera. He querido mencionar primero las cosas que menos me gustaron, para que quede claro que no hablo desde el punto de vista de alguien que simplemente es un fanboy de Zack Snyder, si creo que él es un buen cineasta, pero también creo que él tiene ciertas peculiaridades en su forma de contar las historias que pueden resultar negativas.
En cuanto a las cosas que me gustaron mucho del Snyder Cut, en primer lugar, está el desarrollo de personajes que hace de cada uno de los héroes (en especial de cybor), lo que en la anterior versión fue muy limitado y eso permitió que se pudiera empatizar mucho mejor con todos, además las interacciones entre ellos esta vez fueron más orgánicas y nos hace sentir que realmente son un equipo. En ese mismo orden de ideas, está la explicación que se da para que sea necesario revivir a Superman, creo que en esta oportunidad queda bien claro que traerlo a la vida no es simplemente un capricho o una exigencia de la película, sino que tiene todo el sentido y la justificación lógica para que decidan tomar el riesgo de resucitarlo.

I would have preferred that this had been released later by the director through his social networks, especially for the most active fans and that it served to reinforce this new campaign, being supplied to the public in small doses of extra material that had not been incorporated into the Snyder Cut, but I understand that there would surely be legal impediments that made it be included in the film itself, although otherwise it would have been by including it only in the black and white version that has been announced and that it also had other parts that we have not seen yet. By the way, that reminds me of another thing that I don't think is very good about the film and that is the 4: 3 square format, which causes side bars on widescreen screens, since it was intended to be released in cinemas with IMAX and HBO Max screens. He decided to respect that original format, even though he was now addressing a television audience.
On the other hand, a point where I prefer the 2017 version is the soundtrack, especially the interpretation of the song Everybody Knows in the voice of the singer Sigrid and also the theme that accompanies the Wonder Woman scenes, But this is something very personal and subjective, and it is also not that the new film has bad music. Apart from that and other specific little things that maybe I might not have liked at all or would not have bothered me if they had kept the way we saw them in the 2017 movie, everything else in this new version of the League of Justice seems to me enormously superior to what was shown in the first. I wanted to mention first the things that I liked the least, so that it is clear that I am not speaking from the point of view of someone who is simply a fanboy of Zack Snyder, I do believe that he is a good filmmaker, but I also believe that he has certain peculiarities in their way of telling stories that can be negative.
As for the things that I liked a lot about the Snyder Cut, first of all, there is the character development that each of the heroes (especially cybor) does, which in the previous version was very limited and that allowed you could empathize much better with everyone, in addition the interactions between them this time were more organic and it makes us feel that they really are a team. In the same vein, there is the explanation that is given so that it is necessary to revive Superman, I think that this time it is very clear that bringing him to life is not simply a whim or a requirement of the film, but it has everything the sense and the logical justification for them to decide to take the risk of resuscitating him.
De las escenas de acción, ni hablar. Están simplemente a un nivel muy por encima de lo que vimos en 2017, las secuencias son mucho más épicas, hay muchos detalles que al combinarse crean una armonía de la que carecía completamente la cinta que se estrenó en los cines. En este nuevo montaje se emplean maravillosamente las tomas en cámara lenta para imprimirle un grado de emoción brutal a las escenas y esto se intercala con movimientos acelerados en otros instantes que producen un efecto muy vistoso en cada batalla. Otro punto relacionado, es que los villanos en esta versión son mucho más intimidantes e imponentes, cuentan también con mejor desarrollo y el diseño del CGI es más impresionante, lo que le da una trascendencia mayor a cada uno de los enfrentamientos con los protagonistas.
Sin embargo, no solo en los momentos de acción es que la cinematografía de este largometraje se luce, también en los de mayor dramatismo logra transmitir sentimientos que se experimentan genuinamente y no se siente que empalaguen o aburran, ya que son muy acordes con la trama, aunque por la extensa duración del filme puedan llegar a sentirse que se desenvuelven de una forma algo lenta, pero creo que siempre consiguen generar el impacto que se pretende alcancen.
Antes de finalizar quiero decir, que aunque habiendo observado esta nueva puesta en escena de la película, ahora no solo creo que la anterior se queda bastante por debajo en cuanto a calidad, sino que puedo notar con mayor claridad la presencia en ella de unos cuantos problemas importantes, dejando al margen las polémicas que se han suscitado por la supuesta conducta discriminatoria y personalidad arrogante de Joss Whedon, mi opinión es que no toda la culpa de que aquella película tuviera todos esos errores, sino que este señor se encontró con algo ideado por alguien más, por lo que ya de por sí sería bastante complicado que pudiera producir con ello un resultado optimo, pero además, se le ordeno eliminarle un montón de cosas, hacer más corta su duración e imprimirle un tono diferente, todo eso sin causar un gasto demasiado grande de recurso, por lo tanto creo que buena parte del resultado está más que justificado y no se le debe condenar tan severamente como algunos lo han hecho.

However, it is not only in moments of action that the cinematography of this feature film shines, but also in those of greater drama it manages to convey feelings that are genuinely experienced and do not feel cloying or boring, since they are very consistent with the plot. Although, due to the length of the film, they may feel that they are developing somewhat slowly, but I think that they always manage to generate the impact they are intended to achieve.
Before concluding, I want to say that although having observed this new staging of the film, now I not only believe that the previous one is quite below in terms of quality, but I can notice more clearly the presence in it of a few Important problems, leaving aside the controversies that have been raised by the alleged discriminatory behavior and arrogant personality of Joss Whedon, my opinion is that it is not all the fault that that film had all those errors, but that this man found something devised by someone else, so that in itself it would be quite complicated for him to produce an optimal result with it, but also, he was ordered to eliminate a lot of things, make their duration shorter and print a different tone, all without causing too great an expenditure of resources, therefore I believe that a good part of the result is more than justified and should not be condemned as severely as some have done.
