La Batalla mas disparatada del cine y la television/The craziest battle in cinema and television
Sin duda alguna este fue de los episodios y de las batallas más esperadas de la serie de HBO, todos estábamos a la expectativa del desenlace y el rumbo que tomarían las vidas de los protagonistas luego del conflicto ¿Quién viviría? ¿Quién moriría? Fue tanta la expectación que muchos críticos en incluso algunos la catalogaban antes de su salida como “La batalla más épica del cine y la televisión”.
Without a doubt, this was one of the most anticipated episodes and battles in the HBO series. The expectation was so great that many critics even called it "The most epic battle in film and television" before its release.
En la serie de televisión de Games Of Thrones, La larga noche fue uno de los conflictos bélicos más importantes en el Norte de Westeros, puso fin al avance del Rey Nocturno sobre el continente y expulso a los Caminantes Blancos, mucho se habló del episodio y de la batalla en sí, y ya ha pasado bastante tiempo y ha corrido mucha agua bajo el puente y daré mi opinión del porque esta batalla no es ni de lejos la mejor batalla del cine y la televisión como muchos la declararon y otros la pronosticaron. In the TV series of Games Of Thrones, The Long Night was one of the most important warlike conflicts in the North of Westeros, it ended the advance of the Night King over the continent and expelled the White Walkers, much was said about the episode and the battle itself, and enough time has passed and much water has run under the bridge and I will give my opinion about why this battle is not by far the best battle in cinema and television as many declared it and others predicted it. Solamente táctica y estrategia/Only tactics and strategy
No vengo hacer un análisis del capítulo, que mal no caería pues en sí tiene varios fallos. Vengo a hablarles de algo que a mí me hizo mucho ruido y es de la batalla en general, y las decisiones que los personajes tomaron al plantar sus ejércitos y luchar. Este articulo va dedicado a ello, a la táctica y la estrategia empleadas en esta batalla y porque (pienso yo) esta tan pesimamente planteada.
I do not come to make an analysis of the chapter, which would not be wrong because it has several failures. I'm here to talk about something that made a lot of noise to me and it's about the battle in general, and the decisions that the characters made when they planted their armies and fought. Antecedentes del conflicto/ Background of the conflict.
Los Stark lograron retomar Winterfell y el Norte de las manos de los Bolton y sus vasallos, Jon ahora es proclamado Rey en el Norte tras vencer en la Batalla de los Bastardos con ayuda de Sansa Stark y Little Finger quienes trajeron como refuerzos a los caballeros de Dale. El objetivo principal de Jon como nuevo Rey en el Norte es parar el avance del Rey Nocturno hasta sus tierras, pero no tiene soldados suficientes por lo cual necesitará ayuda.

Jon's main objective as the new King in the North is to stop the Night King's advance into his lands, but he doesn't have enough soldiers so he will need help.
Mientras esto ocurre Daenerys ha llegado a Dragon Stone con un enorme ejercito compuesto por los Inmaculados, los ejércitos de las tribus Dothraki, y con la fuerza naval de Yara Greyjoy y por supuesto sus tres dragones, gracias a las negociaciones de Varys en Dragon Stone Daenerys se reúne con los Martell y los Tyrell formando el ejército más entre los contendientes.

Por el lado del Rey Nocturno y los caminantes blancos es difícil saberlo ya que no se nos indica en ningún momento la cantidad exacta, pero en la reunión que tienen en Kings Landing al pactar la tregua, Daenerys nos indica que el Ejercito de los Muertos supera los cien mil soldados, tenemos que tomar en cuenta que el Rey Nocturno es capaz de levantar a los muertos, adicional a ello entre sus fuerzas se encuentran otras criaturas como gigantes o mamuts y claramente según el mapa de batalla que Jon y sus generales analizan se ve que el ejército del Rey Nocturno supera ampliamente al de las fuerzas de los Stark y Targaryen combinadas y posiblemente a cualquier otro ejército ya que en palabras de Daenerys son la mayor fuerza militar que Westeros haya visto en mucho tiempo.

Mi Problema con la “Batalla más Espectacular del Cine y la Televisión”/ My Problem with the "Most Spectacular Battle of Film and Television”
El problema que tengo con esta batalla es lo poco creíble, mal recreada e ilógica que es, entiendo perfectamente que Game Of Thrones es una serie de fantasía con mezclas de tintes políticos y realistas pero soy un firme defensor que la lógica dentro de tu universo por mas fantasioso que sea no debe quebrantarse y no lo digo precisamente por el desarrollo del capítulo sino únicamente hablando de la batalla. No es la primera batalla que presenciamos en la serie, ya las serie nos había mostrado batallas muy impresionantes como la Batalla de Aguasnegras, la Batalla del Muro entre muchas otras que estuvieron bien recreadas o cuando menos decentemente recreadas ¿A qué me refiero con esto? Que las decisiones que se toman en la batalla tienen lógica y dan la impresión de que enserio los personajes son buenos estrategas o cuando menos tienen experiencia militar y en combate.
The problem that I have with this battle is how little credible, badly recreated and illogical it is, I understand perfectly that Game Of Thrones is a series of fantasy with mixtures of political and realistic dyes but I am a firm defender that the logic within your universe no matter how fantastic it is should not be broken and I don't say it precisely because of the development of the chapter but only talking about the battle. This is not the first battle we witnessed in the series, the series had already shown us very impressive battles like the Battle of Black Waters, the Battle of the Wall among many others that were well recreated or at least decently recreated. That the decisions made in the battle are logical and give the impression that the characters are really good strategists or at least have military and combat experience.

La Larga Noche es una batalla donde los mismos generales que hemos visto en acción se comportan como unos imbéciles, el primer problema lo tenemos analizando el mapa de batalla, en la formación del ejercito de los vivos;

La formación del ejercito de los vivos se disponía de una formación poco usual (sin mencionar que inservible), la caballería Dotrhaki representada con triángulos se ubicaba en la vanguardia del ejército, tras ellos se encontraban los inmaculados junto con algunas unidades de artillería, en el flanco derecho se encontraban los ejércitos Stark y al otro lado de la formación en el flanco izquierdo los ejércitos de los Arryn compuestos por los caballeros de Dale, algunos Mormont y los que quedaban de los hombres libres provenientes más allá del Muro.

No solo reciben todo el choque del ejercito del Rey Nocturno, sino que tras de ellos hay una empalizada que fue puesta a modo de trampa y contención para cuando las defensas comenzaran a caer, de esta empalizada es que solamente tiene unas pocas vías de escape que dan hacia las murallas y solo una entrada principal del castillo, los Inmaculados defendían todo el perímetro de las murallas por la cual a la hora de la retirada los que no estuvieran cerca de la entrada del castillo quedarían atrapados entre el ejército de no muertos y la empalizada ya que tendrían que recorrer el exterior del muro para llegar a la entrada de la fortaleza, esto no solo aplica a los Inmaculados sino también al ejercito de Stark, Mormont, Arryn y hombres libres que se ubican a los flancos, nuevamente un suicidio en masa.

Debido a esta serie de errores o más bien horrores y sin sentidos se me hizo muy difícil poder disfrutar de la batalla, no entendí como la necesidad de crear espectáculo o tensión innecesaria prevaleció más que la integridad de la serie, serie que venía tratando estos temas con un enfoque ya no tanto realista, sino más bien metódico y estratégico, Game Of Thrones planteaba que las guerras no solo se pelean en los campos de batalla y no son solo un grupo de hombres armados contra otro, sino que había más en ello; táctica, estrategias, trampas… Por eso esta batalla me parece una de las más flojas y peor elaboradas de la serie a pesar de que fue increíblemente aclamada por el público y la crítica.

Es muy fácil criticar sin aportar; por eso quiero presentarles lo que creo hubieran hecho los personajes y lo que hubiera sido más lógico hacer para enfrentar la amenaza que suponía el Rey Nocturno y su ejército.

La batalla se inicia a las puertas de Winterfell, el ejercito del Rey Nocturno llega desde el Norte, como podemos ver en la serie hay varios kilómetros de pradera y campo abierto antes de llegar a las puertas de la ciudad; lo que yo hubiera hecho sería no una, sino seis o cinco líneas de empalizadas ubicadas con su respectivas trampas y pasadizos a cierta distancia una de otra, y que los dragones Drogon y Rhaegal prendiesen fuego a dichas empalizadas cuando las hordas comenzaran avanzar, no es un plan disparatado, Tiryon quien por cierto estaba en la reunión de guerra planeó algo similar en la Batalla de Black Waters cuando usó fuego valiryo para destruir gran parte de la flota de Stannis antes que llegaran a la playa.

El único problema real sería un ataque directo a la ciudad por parte del Rey Nocturno a lomos del dragón, vimos como este fue capaz de destruir el Muro el cual es infinitamente más alto y resistente que un muro de piedra normal, sin embargo, contamos con dos dragones, Drogon y Rhaegal que pueden ocuparse de ese asunto, el Rey Nocturno no puede descuidarse ya que si el muere su ejército morirá con él. Lo más importante no solo era quitarle sus tropas al Rey Nocturno, sino perder la menor cantidad de hombres posibles ya que es capaz de revivir y poner de su lado a los caídos, cosa que los vivos sabían muy bien. Por eso es que suicidar a esa cantidad de soldados me pareció algo totalmente inaudito e impensable.

Creo que es lo más coherente, no solo en mi opinión personal, sino que me parece inaudito que un grupo de personas, todos probados en combate hayan tomado una serie de decisiones que a todas luces eran un error en batalla. De igual forma no soy dueño de la verdad, simplemente estoy dando mi opinión sobre una de las series más aclamadas a nivel mundial y una de mis favoritas también a pesar de todo.
I think it is the most coherent thing, not only in my personal opinion, but it seems unheard of that a group of people, all tested in combat have made a series of decisions that were clearly a mistake in battle. Hermanó pese a que el artículo es largo lo ame porque explicaste cada argumento bien desde el uso de la infantería, el mall uso de los muros y hasta la estrategia lógica. Personalmente yo no recuerdo bien este capítulo lo cierto es que si recuerdo que me molestó por lo tonto que fue el final y sumado que después de jugar age of Empire jajaja uno se vuelve investigador en este punto de guerras porque como dices "no son solo grupo de personas con espadas" y vas más allá de eso porque como ves aunque los no muerto son malos en el combate a comparación de lo vivos ellos tenían más número y por eso sufrieron.
