IW: Speckled wood (Pararge aegeria)

Hello insect lovers, this time I bring some photographs that I took of a butterfly a few days ago and that I decided to share with all of you on this occasion.

This butterfly is called Speckled wood or (Pararge aegeria) by its scientific name, it is very common in the area where I live, and one of the easiest to recognize by its colors.

It is not the first time that I meet and photograph it, but I liked these images and I decided to use them for this publication, in the insects of the world community.

It is a medium sized butterfly, measuring about five centimeters the span of its open wings, the male being a little smaller than the female.

Their colors range from brown, white and yellow in the male, the female has more prominent and bright spots, and the male has pheromones to attract the female.

This butterfly likes a humid climate, so it is common to find it in temperate forests, it is also common to see it in urbanization fluttering between hedges and flower boxes in public spaces, it usually withstands cold climates very well.
