Giant Grasshopper ( Schistocerca americana )

Hello "Insects of the World" Community!

Friends! Today i am sharing the Macro pictures of Giant Grasshopper. The scientific name of this insect is Schistocerca americana. It is the member of Acrididae family. the order name of this species is Orthoptera. It is the ground dwelling insects and having the ability to long jump due to powerful and strong legs. It is known as Gesonula punctifrons. Grasshoppers are plants eater species. it can found in the crops, bushes and meadows etc. i found it in the forest.

Grasshoppers jumps by extending their large back legs and pushing against the substrate. Grasshopper and locust are the one and same insects. Grasshopper can hear but they can not distinguished pitch well.Hopefully every member of this community like these extreme macro pictures of Grasshopper.

    Good work, the images look very sharp and well focused. It would have been nice to take pictures of the grasshopper from different angles to further enhance your post.
