If in the nineties not 3 but 4 parts of Crash Bandicoot were created on PlayStation 1, I imagine that the four could look just like the subject of today's review. The studio previously responsible for the remake of the classic Spyro, prepared a fantastic laurel for fans and the only thing I can say is that it's high time that this brand returned to the players hands.

The enemies are plotting again ... this time they accidentally open interdimensional gaps that may allow them to conquer not only our world, but all worlds as well. Crush and Coco are on their way again, who travel across universes and must acquire mysterious, quantum masks that not only give them new abilities, but also allow them to close cosmic holes and defeat the bad guys. Crash Bandicoot 4 is an ideal for the most enthusiastic fans of the series. The action takes place right after the events of the three and ignores all subsequent scenes, which is mentioned jokingly several times in the dialogues.

So it returns to the Gameplay roots of the series. If I am not mistaken, it is using the improved engine of the 2017 Insane Trilogy. It is played as if it were a natural continuation of those games. This is in my opinion a bull's eye, all the classic gameplay elements are here in their place, and as befits a solid sequel, the game also stands out with a whole pool of completely new, ingenious solutions. So if you've ever played classic Crash you'll feel right at home. If not, I recommend you to play, the game is really great. Undoubtedly, under the influence of players' comments, even a few elements were improved, the game now works at 60 frames per second on PS4 Pro and XBox One X. The criticized physics engine has also been improved, the characters no longer slide off the edge, and the controls seem a little more precise. Changes for the player's comfort are also a small circle under the hero's feet, which facilitates orientation in three-dimensional space, this one can be turned off, so don't worry if you don't like this idea.

Crash and Coco are our main heroes, we can change the active character between levels, but this does not affect the gameplay in any way. They have all the basic skills gained in the previous games. From the beginning of the adventure, we can perform double jumps, slides and an air body attack. We learn new tricks mainly thanks to the aforementioned masks, which change our fun. For example, one of the masks turns our hero into a flying tornado, another allows you to slow down time, another one reverses gravity, and the last one controls the appearance and disappearance of platforms and obstacles. The game features almost all of the favorite fragments from the previous games, 2D style levels, 3D style levels, riding animals, running away from opponents towards the screen, surfing the board, but that doesn't mean that this part doesn't have any new elements. The game maps are beautifully and varied. The fact that we have many dimensions allows the climate to change quickly in the game, and of course it works to the advantage of the whole game. We will visit both familiar places as well as completely unknown to us new locations.

Brand new playable characters have also been introduced, Tawna, Dingodile and Doctor Cortex each get their own rankings of levels revolving around their specific abilities. Tawna can throw a rope with a grappling hook, Dingodile uses the Big Vacuum Cleaner and Doctor Cortex fires a strange popper that turns enemies into platforms. These heroes get their own mini campaigns on great maps with loads of bonuses. Speaking of bonuses, there are quite a few in the game. For a good start, we have several dozen of skins to unlock, we get them for maxing levels, and there is what to max - each board is 6 gems to get. And gems are also obtained on a regular board and by going through the same board in reverse mode, which imposes strange psychedelic filters on the game and everything is mirrored.

Personally, I am not a fan of completing everything 100%, but I know a few people who just have to finish the game in order to unlock all possible hidden things and this game will definitely be a big challenge for them because the last levels are not that easy.
