Alien Deacon (Prometheus 2011)
Hello friends of hive, I hope you are very well, I send a big greeting to all the artists in this community. Today I want to share my drawing of the Alien Deacon that appeared in the 2011 film Prometheus. This film is one of my favorites in the franchise, in which new concepts were introduced that would be exploited in the next installments, unfortunately it has not been like that. However, I liked the proposal and especially the design of this space demon. The Deacon is born when a face hugger named Trilobite impregnates an Engineer or Space Jockey as they have been known. At the end of the film we could see how it emerged from the body of the engineer. I hope you like my drawing and the process to draw it.
Hola amigos de hive, espero que se encuentren muy bien, envío un gran saludo a todos los artistas de esta comunidad. Hoy quier compartir mi dibujo del Alien Deacon que apareció en la película Prometheus de 2011. Esta película es una de mis favoritas de la franquicia, en la que se introdujeron nuevos conceptos que serían explotados en las próximas entregas, lamentablemente no ha sido así. Sin embargo a mi me gustó la propuesta y en especial el diseño de este demonio del espacio. El Deacon nace cuando un abrazacaras llamado Trilobite impregna a un Ingeniero o como han sido conocidos Space Jockey. Al final de la película pudimos ver como surgió del cuerpo del ingeniero. Espero que les guste mi dibujo y el proceso para dibujarlo.
Process
We make a quick sketch with a white pencil, then we fill in the interior with base colors, as in the film the scene appears somewhat dark, the low light makes the Deacon's skin look somewhat greenish towards gray, so I start to paint with these colors as a base and then I add darker and lighter tones depending on the focus of the light. To begin, the lines must be soft, without much passion, just fill in little by little so that later we can better apply the colors.
Hacemos un boceto rápido con lápiz lanco, luego vamos rellenando el interior con colores bases, como en la película la escena aparece algo oscura, la poca luz hace que la piel del Deacon luzca algo verdosa hacia gris, por lo que comienzo a pintar con estos colores como base y luego voy agregando tonos mas oscuros y claros dependiendo del enfoque de la luz. Para comenzar los trazo deben ser suaves, sin mucha pasión, solamente rellenar poco a poco para que luego podamos aplicar mejor los colores.
Using dark shades of green, ultramarine blue and gray, we began to delineate the shadow parts to give relief to the skeletal body of the Deacon. We can press gently so that with the strokes we make the shadows better, we must never press hard because we would ruin the drawing.
Utilizando tonos oscuros de verde, azul ultramar y gris, comenzamos a delimitar las partes de las sombras para darle relieve al cuerpo esquelético del Diacono. Podemos presionar suavemente para que conlos trazos hagamos mejor las sombras, nunca debemos presionar fuerte porque arruinaríamos el dibujo.
As you can see, I also used light and dark turquoise green colors. The important thing about playing with the tones so as not to depend on the black color and the white color, they are only used as a last resort to reinforce, but it is always best to achieve it with the tones with which we are painting.
Como pueden observar, tambien utilicé colores verde turquesa claro y tambien oscuro. Lo importante de jugar con los tonos para no depender del color negro y el color blanco, solo se utilizan en ultima instancia para reforzar, pero siempre lo mejor es lograrlo con los tonos con los que estamos pintando.
Then we move on to the neck and head area, repeating the same patterns in the strokes and with the same tones. As the Deacon has just emerged, it is all wet in most of its body, which makes us reinforce the lights to achieve the effect of humidity. With a brush we blur all the colors that we have used by gently passing it throughout the drawing until we achieve uniformity. Then we can pass the light colors again so that the lights are better.
Luego pasamos al area del cuello y la cabeza repitiendo los mismos patrones en los trazos y con los mismos tonos. Como el Deacon acaba de emerger, esta todo mojado en la mayor parte de su cuerpo, lo cual nos hace reforzar las luces para lograr el efecto de humedad. Con un pincel difuminamos todos los colores que hemos utilizado pasandolo suavemente por todo el dibujo hasta lograr uniformidad. Despues podemos volver a pasar los colores claros para que las luces queden mejor.
Final Work
This is how the final finishes of this space monster have been. Although his presentation cry appeared a few seconds on the screen, it makes us think how fearsome and deadly this creature would be if it encountered humans. I hope you liked my dubujo, hopefully Ridley Scott brings us a good Alien movie as good as the 1979 one, full of terror and suspense. Así ha quedado los acabados finales de este monstruo del espacio. Aunque apareció pocos segundos en pantalla su grito de presentación nos hace pensar lo temible y mortal que sería esta criatura de encontrarse con los humanos. Espero que les haya gustado mi dubujo, ojala Ridley Scott nos traiga una buena película de Alien tan buena como la de 1979, llena de mucho terror y suspenso.
