Hola amigos, hoy les comparto mi dibujo sobre un Papión sagrado o Hamadríade un primate muy particular, el cual era adorado por los antiguos egipcios a tal punto que se han encontrado momias de estos animales Durante el Antiguo Egipto, el hamadríade fue domesticado en algunas zonas para que recolectase frutos en las palmeras e incluso para custodiar los rebaños de ovejas, a modo de perro pastor. La relación entre hombres y monos llegó a ser tan estrecha entonces que el hamadríade fue adorado como un dios local menor, Babi (de cuyo nombre procede la propia palabra babuino), una de las múltiples formas adoptadas por Thot. Es por esta razón que recibe a veces el apelativo de "babuino sagrado". En la actualidad, el hamadríade ya no goza del aprecio de antaño, pero tampoco corre peligro: la presión humana, débil en las regiones donde vive, lo ha expulsado de algunas zonas.
Hello friends, today I share with you my drawing of a sacred Papion or Hamadryad, a very particular primate, which was worshiped by the ancient Egyptians to such an extent that mummies of these animals have been found. During ancient Egypt, the hamadryad was domesticated in some areas to collect fruits in the palm trees and even to guard the flocks of sheep, as a shepherd dog. The relationship between men and apes became so close that the hamadryad was worshipped as a local minor god, Babi (from whose name comes the word baboon), one of the many forms adopted by Thoth. It is for this reason that it is sometimes called the "sacred baboon". Today, the hamadriade no longer enjoys the esteem it once did, but it is not in danger either: human pressure, weak in the regions where it lives, has driven it out of some areas.
