This is the first airship I've designed that can be rightly called a dirigible. Despite being my most recent creation, this is meant to be one of the oldest designs in my fictional world.

The major powers of Rossbera, the titular Nine Empires, all have very long histories except for one: the Taressimian Martial State, which came into existence a mere century before the events of The Nine Empires. This airship, known as a flying fish, is one particular weapon that allowed Taressim to methodically take over all the surrounding territories, ultimately expanding its borders all the way to those of two empires and dangerously close to two others: Sondor to the west, Okseyetia (I hate that name, and will probably change it) to the north, Karaden to the east, and Arcadia (not shown) to the south.

The flying fish, though an effective gunship, was most effective as a weapon of psychological warfare. The 102-metre dirigibles would darken the sky and frighten most enemies into fleeing without a fight. Most of the people that Taressim conquered, particularly in the State's early days, had seen very few airships, and certainly not ones this size.

Despite their large size, especially for their day, flying fish are quite nimble, owing to large rudders mounted above and below.

Each rudder pivots on a shaft mounted in the middle, and cables on each end bring the rudder back to a neutral position.

The drive engines are located in the gondola, and drive shafts run through the balloon and out the wings to the propellers.

Seven machine guns are mounted on the bottom deck of the gondola. These can make short work of any ground troops firing back with single-shot rifles. Against forces armed with any substantial anti-aircraft guns, less so.

As usual, I didn't put too much detail into the machine guns, but at least you can tell what they are (probably). When I finally start making animations (who knows when that will be), I'll make some more detailled weapons to go along with animated characters.

As I mentioned before, the flying fish is 102 metres long. It is also 20 metres in diameter, and has a wingspan of 41.19 metres. For comparison, the light caravel is 69 metres long and 11.17 metres in diameter, and the heavy caravel is 80 metres long and 14.22 metres in diameter.

Of course, the size of the gondolas reveal something else. The gondola of the flying fish is all of a mere 21 metres long and 3 metres wide. The gondola of the light caravel, on the other hand, is 19 metres long and 8.3 metres wide, while the gondola of the heavy caravel is 29 metres long and 8.5 metres wide.

Like most of my airships, I have a drawing of this one, though it isn't yet fully annotated. For each object that belongs to a specific faction, the most prominent symbol of the faction is displayed next to the title block. In this case it is the Martial Star, which is clearly painted on the nose of the flying fish, and also appears on the Taressimian flag. My intent, by the way, is to eventually re-design my website to include all of my various creations, not just historical tanks, and these drawings will be for sale. Models, on the other hand...
