¡Hola Chicos!

¡Comencemos!

Hey guys!

Those who have been following my posts for a long time know that I love everything related to recycling. Whenever we can give a second chance to something that we would normally throw away, we are contributing our grain of sand to our environment.

I love to reuse everything I can and something I have loved since I discovered its potential is plastic lids. I have shared endless things that you can do with them and today I want to teach you how to make these cute little gnome Christmas decorations.

I really enjoyed doing this craft and I also loved the result. I think that endless designs can be made with this technique and also if we involve family members, especially children, we can make beautiful and loving decorations. ♥

Now I share the step by step so that you can make them at home and decorate your little tree or any corner of your home with them. 😊

Let's get started!

For this craft I used the lid of a butter container that has an ideal size.

We need to extract the center of it, which is the flat part. We can do it by cutting the edge with scissors or with a hot knife, burning until the useful part is extracted, so we can reserve the ring for another craft (I recommend doing it because in the next post I will be telling you what you could use it for 😉).

IMG_20221104_153713333.jpg

Now with the help of a marker and a lid or any circular object that is similar in size to the plastic that was removed, we will mark a circle and cut the irregular edges.

IMG_20221104_153756441.jpg

With cold paint we paint two layers to give our ornament a solid base, I used a black one, but it can also be a light tone, everything is a matter of taste.

Let dry completely to continue with the next step.

IMG_20221104_161618576_HDR.jpg

With a pencil making very soft strokes so as not to remove the paint, we draw the sketch of the gnomes.

Now with white paint we paint the entire silhouette of the gnome and its interior, so the colors we apply will be much more striking than painting directly on the black surface.

I recommend you take a photograph of each design, so you will have a reference of what each gnome is like because when you paint it white, the pencil strokes are lost.

We add color to the gnomes. I used the same colors, but distributed in a different way so that all the decorations combined and looked harmonic.

With permanent marker we outline all the gnomes, thus we will give greater prominence to each of their factions.

You could also do this with a fine brush and black paint.

Up to this point we could say that they are ready but I wanted to experiment a little because I wanted my decorations to have a special shine.

I did not document this part in detail because I was afraid that the result would not be good, but I will tell you:

I had kept some resin containers for many years. Over time they spilled from being moved from one side to another and there was very little left of one of the components.

The other had taken an amber color and I was a little afraid that they would be dark.

I mixed both parts and before adding it to my ornaments with a metal pointy object (I used an ice pick), I made some holes in each of the ornaments to have where to hang them.

I added the resin and spread with a plastic spoon. Then with a tinderbox I removed the bubbles and placed them on a piece of cardboard to dry.

The invention turned out very well and I really liked the tone they took because they look some vintage.

If you don't have resin you can use a transparent nail polish to give it that shine and protect the paint.

After spending a full day the resin was completely dry, it only remains to place a small string and hang them.

I really liked the result, I feel they were very nice. 😊

I hope you liked the proposal as much as I do, and make them to decorate your homes. ♥
