Hello dear friends, I hope you are very well, this week I have not been able to be so active due to technical problems that are beyond my responsibility. However, I took advantage of the days without being able to publish very well to be able to work and here I come to present the last thing I did. I have made a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, a true work of art in terms of beauty and a true machine, known as the "Muscle car". My scale model is based on the 1968 model, I made it using cardboard and aluminum cans that I have been collecting, the templates as usual were made by myself deconstructing the parts of this beautiful car. Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, esta semana no he podido estar tan activo por problemas técnicos que escapan de mi responsabilidad. Sin embargo aproveché muy bien los días sin poder publicar para poder trabajar y aquí les vengo a presntar lo último que hice. He realizado un Chevrolet Camaro modelo 1968, una aunténtica obra de arte en cuanto a belleza y una verdadera máquina, conocida como los "Muscle car". Mi modelo a escala está basado en el modelo de 1968, lo hice utilizando cartón y latas de aluminio que he ido coleccionando, las plantillas como es de costumbre las hice yo mismo deconstruyendo las partes de este carro tan hermoso. Espero que les guste.
On white sheets I designed the templates, all the important parts of the bodywork, such as the doors, the windows, the windshield, the hood, the fenders, the roof. To shorten time and materials, for example in the doors and windows, I only made a template, since then I would turn it over and thus remove the other part.
En hojas blancas diseñé las plantillas, todas las partes importantes de la carrocería, como las puertas, las ventanas, el parabrisa, el capó, las defensas el techo. Para acortar tiempo y materiales por ejemplo en las puertas y ventanas solo hice una plantilla, ya que luego la volteaba y así sacaba la otra parte.
The first part I did to start assembling the car was the doors and the fenders, as you can see the template was bigger than the aluminum can, so I had to cut it to make it, and it came out better as you can see the door partition. After I made it in two pieces I glued them together, and at the same time I made the door at the other end using the same template.
La primera parte que hice para comenzar a ensamblar el carro fue las puertas y los guardafangos, como pueden ver la plantilla era más grande que la lata de aluminio, así que tuve que cortarla para poder hacerla, y salió mejor ya que se puede apreciar la división de la puerta. Luego que la hice en dos piezas las uní con pegamento, y al mismo tiempo hice la puerta del otro extremo utilizando la misma plantilla.
The next step is to join the previous pieces, for this I made two parts that help to join the hood and also the back of the car, we cut these two tabs using the template, we cut it from the can and then we stick it little by little in the doors, we can use some tweezers to hold better while joining. Then we do the front hood, as you can see it was also bigger than the can so I cut it in two to make it two pieces, then attached it using a small strip of aluminum and glued it with instant glue, the same way the rear hood.
El siguiente paso es unir las piezas anteriores, para ello hice dos partes que ayudan a unir el capó y también la parte trasera del carro, cortamos estas dos pestañas utilizando la plantilla, la cortamos de la lata y luego la vamos pegando poco a poco en las puertas, podemos usar unas pinzas para sostener mjor mientras se une. Luego hacemos el capó delantero, como pueden ver también era más grande que la lata así que lo corté en dos para hacerlo de dos piezas, lo úní luego usando una pequeña tira de alumio y lo pegué con el pegamento instantáneo, de la misma forma el capó trasero.
Once we have the base of the body we can start making the upper parts, we start by making the windows, cutting the template we make both windows, we remove the drawn squares that will be for the glass, very carefully because the can usually breaks easily , so it would be time to do everything again from the beginning. We glue them in the corresponding place and then we make the roof of the car, also cutting the template on the can, we mold it carefully and we join it little by little to the upper part of the windows.
Una vez que ya tenemos la base de la carrocería podemos ir haciendo las partes superiores, comenzamos haciendo las ventanas, cortando la plantilla hacemos ambas ventanas, le quitamos los cuadros dibujados que será para los vidrios, con mucho cuidado porque la lata suele romperse con facilidad, así que tocaría hacer de nuevo todo desde el principio. Las pegamos en el lugar que le corresponde y luego hacemos el techo del carro, tambien cortando la plantilla sobre la lata, la moldeamos cuidadosamente y vamos uniendola poco a poco a la parte superior de las ventanas.
After completing most of the car we started to make important details such as the window panes, since I couldn't find a plastic that would work for me I used cardboard, I glued it on the inside and then I painted it using a dark marker. After that I made the front part where the lighting headlights and the fenders go. I made both the front and the back with crton to make it harder. I also painted them using black marker.
Después de completar la mayor parte del carro comenzamos a hacer detalles importantes como los vidrios de la ventana, como no encontré un plástico que me sirviera utilicé cartón, lo pegué por la parte interna y luego lo pinté utilizando un marcador oscuro. Luego de eso hice la parte frontal donde va los faros de iluminación y las defensas. tanto de la parte delantera como la parte trasera, las hice con crtón para que tuviera mayor dureza. También las pinté utilizando marcador negro.
As final parts, we also make the floor of the car with cardboard, leaving space to insert the wheels, cutting a small rectangle with scissors the size that the wheel will have. After that with cardboard we will make the wheels by cutting 8 circles with a diameter of 3 centimeters. Loego we cut strips of cardboard to join both sides and on top of them we will put foami for the rubbers, we end up making small details such as the handles for the doors and the rear-view mirrors, in this way we have finished.
Como partes finales hacemos el piso del carro también con cartón, dejamos espacio para introducir las ruedas, cortando con unas tijeras un pequeño rectángulo del tamaño que tendrá la rueda. Después de eso con cartón haremos las ruedas cortando 8 círculos con un diámetro de 3 centímetros. Loego cortamos tiras de cartón para unir ambas caras y encima de ellas pondremos foami para los cauchos, terminamos haciendo pequeños detalles como las manillas para las puertas y los espejos retrovisores, de esta manera hemos finalizado.
When putting the last details the car was finished, I also added a small spoiler to the rear that this model has. I hope you liked how this scale model of the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro turned out, it is becoming more and more difficult to find material such as aluminum cans to make things, so I have to travel more distances to see where I can find it, hehe but it is something that I like to do no matter how hard it is. Al poner los últimos detalles el carro quedó finalizado, también agregué en la parte trasera un pequeño alerón que este modelo posee. Espero que les haya gustado como quedó este modelo a escala del Chevrolet Camaro 1968, cada vez se hace más dificil encontrar material como latas de aluminio para hacer cosas, por lo que debo recorrer más distancias a ver donde encuentro, jeje pero es algo que me gusta hacer no importa lo dificil que sea. Me encanta ver, que eres tan ordenado en lo que haces que hasta tus propios planos y moldes haces, eso lo hace ver muy profesional y es por esto que todo siempre te queda bello y perfecto a escala.
Recuerdo que el Camaro era un grito un ícono en la generación de mis padres y hoy por hoy sigue siendo muy comercial y una reliquia por como dices: las características de su potente motor.
Me gusta diseñar las plantillas siempre que puedo, me ayuda mucho a mejorar y representa un desafío, y entiendo mejor como hacen las cosas. Especialmente los carros y aviones, figuras que son de mis favoritas, hay otras tan complicadas que ya amerita usar programas. Este modelo es bellisimo, como muchos otros que salieron a finales delos 60. Muchas gracias por apreciar todo el proceso...
