A couple of days ago I wrote a post whining about the heat recently. It's been so hot so early in the year and I am whiny about it, because we lack any good way to keep cool at our apartment. In that post I commented that with all this heat we should be in for a storm or two, and indeed we were.
Ominous and threatening as they were these little mammatus clouds only produced the smallest amount of hail. We did get a lot of lightning and thunder though! In the end the storm did end up producing one small tornado about an hour away from where we live. Thankfully, it was only a small rope tornado and from any videos or reports I've seen the only damage done was to some crop land. No injuries or property damage, which is good.
As the storm passed by we were rewarded with some beautiful colours at sunset. I always love the smell of the air after a storm has gone through, it made for a very nice evening. My hope is that this will be enough to have broken the heat a bit. Just a return to more seasonal temps would make such a difference.
Update: In the end the storm produced 3 tornados all about an hour away from us and all quite small with an EF0 and 2 that were not rated at all.
