Un saludo amoroso para todos mis amigos de Hive, el día de hoy me uno al reto de escritura creativa de @holo&lotus por el Día de la Pachamama. En esta ocasión deseo contarles sobre una experiencia maravillosa que tuve hace poco con un grupo de niños en la comunidad de Peribeca, estado Táchira. El día de la pachamama lo celebran algunos pueblos indígenas del sur de nuestro continente, es una muestra de reciprocidad a la madre tierra, que es nuestra fuente de vida. En las comunidades indígenas, se celebra con diferentes rituales, dependiendo de la comunidad. ¿Cómo celebrarlo nosotros en medio de una cultura de consumo y destrucción? Pues hace unos meses un grupo de niños extraordinarios me dieron una gran lección de reciprocidad con la tierra.
Mi amigo Lino Acevedo tiene en la comunidad de Peribeca (un pueblito turístico del estado Táchira) una escuelita de formación cultural, allí los niños aprenden a ejecutar instrumentos musicales, canto, artesanía, historia local, cocina y cualquier cosa que sea de su interés y responda a los valores y tradiciones de nuestra región. Hace unos meses mi pareja y yo fuimos invitadas a participar con ellos en una actividad comunitaria. Fue un encuentro interdisciplinario de alto impacto: música, canto, teatro, invitados especiales, músicos profesionales que son referentes en el estado, toda la comunidad fue invitada y fue una exitosa jornada.
A nosotras lo que más nos impacto fue que antes de comenzar la actividad, lo niños, sus padres y el profesor Lino hicieron un bello ritual de agradecimiento a la tierra y a su comunidad. Este consistía en una jornada de limpieza en la placita del pueblo. Parece una cosa simple, pero fue un desbordamiento de amor, risas y juegos, los niños estaban conscientes del significado de aquella jornada de limpieza, sabían que con ella le estaban agradeciendo a su comunidad y a la tierra por permitirles estar allí, jugar, reír, respirar, vivir en armonía con sus familias.
Fue maravilloso verles como hormiguitas recogiendo, barriendo, y separando el material orgánico del no orgánico. Las botellas plásticas y las chapas las guardaban para hacer actividades de manualidades con material reusado. Las hojas, ramas y monte lo trasladaban a un terreno baldío que estaba cerca. Estaba allí, desde el más anciano, hasta el más pequeñito lleno de amor y conciencia por su espacio de vida, su hogar y su tierra.
Esta experiencia nos marcó profundamente, pensamos que es vital desarrollar brigadas de limpieza y cuido en los espacios comunitarios, y que estas brigadas estén conformadas por niños y jóvenes. Así desde muy temprana edad podrán acercarse a la tierra y aprender a quererla, porque en nuestras comunidades, que la mayoría están cubiertas por el asfalto, a los chicos les cuesta trabajo conectarse con sus raíces.
Pienso en lo personal que cada uno de nosotros está conectado con la tierra, está en nuestra naturaleza, solo que a veces lo olvidamos en medio de la bruma de los días. Necesitamos un empujoncito, este tipo de iniciativas no solo son buenas para los más jóvenes, también para recordarnos a los grandes lo importante que es, devolverle a la tierra un poquito de lo que nos da. Yo estoy agradecida con la Escuela de Formación Cultural Guillermo Casanova, sus niños, sus maestros y sus padres por recordármelo.

A ritual of love for the earth. PACHAMAMA DAY - CREATIVE WRITING CHALLENGE (Spanish/English).
A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, today I join the creative writing challenge of @holo&lotus for the Day of the Pachamama. On this occasion I want to tell you about a wonderful experience I had recently with a group of children in the community of Peribeca, Táchira state. The day of the Pachamama is celebrated by some indigenous peoples of the south of our continent, it is a sign of reciprocity to mother earth, which is our source of life. In the indigenous communities, it is celebrated with different rituals, depending on the community. How can we celebrate it in the midst of a culture of consumption and destruction? Well, a few months ago a group of extraordinary children gave me a great lesson of reciprocity with the earth.
My friend Lino Acevedo has in the community of Peribeca (a small tourist town in the state of Táchira) a little school of cultural training, there the children learn to play musical instruments, singing, crafts, local history, cooking and anything that is of interest to them and responds to the values and traditions of our region. A few months ago my partner and I were invited to participate with them in a community activity. It was a high impact interdisciplinary meeting: music, singing, theater, special guests, professional musicians who are referents in the state, the whole community was invited and it was a successful day.
What impacted us the most was that before starting the activity, the children, their parents and the teacher Lino made a beautiful ritual of gratitude to the earth and their community. This consisted of a day of cleaning in the village square. It seems a simple thing, but it was an overflow of love, laughter and games, the children were aware of the meaning of that cleaning day, they knew that with it they were thanking their community and the earth for allowing them to be there, to play, to laugh, to breathe, to live in harmony with their families.
It was wonderful to see them like little ants picking up, sweeping, and separating the organic material from the non-organic. The plastic bottles and metal sheets were saved for craft activities with reused material. Leaves, branches and brush were taken to a nearby vacant lot. It was there, from the oldest to the youngest, full of love and awareness for their living space, their home and their land.
This experience marked us deeply, we think it is vital to develop cleaning and care brigades in community spaces, and that these brigades are made up of children and young people. This way, from a very early age, they can get close to the land and learn to love it, because in our communities, most of which are covered by asphalt, it is difficult for children to connect with their roots.
I personally think that each one of us is connected to the earth, it's in our nature, we just sometimes forget it amidst the haze of the days. We need a little push, this kind of initiatives are not only good for the youngest, but also to remind us adults how important it is to give back to the earth a little bit of what it gives us. I am grateful to the Guillermo Casanova Cultural Training School, its children, teachers and parents for reminding me of this.
