The night was cold, the moon was shining overhead, and in the distance, the barking of a dog could be heard. The atmosphere was eerie, as if something bad was about to happen. In an isolated house, lives a man named Johan. Johan is a strange character, with a strange syndrome: Cotard's syndrome. This condition makes him think that he is dead, that his body is degraded, and that nothingness is all that exists. This belief leads him to behave in strange ways, such as not feeling any emotion, talking to himself, and behaving violently.
One day, Johan receives a letter from an unknown person. The letter says that he has been watching Johan for some time, and that he wants to help him out of his condition. He says that there is a way to cure him, but that to do so he will need the power of a mythical creature called the "King of the Dead". Despite his condition, Johan decides to accept the offer. So he heads to the address indicated in the letter. Arriving there, he discovers an old castle in ruins. He enters it and begins to explore. He soon discovers that the mythical creature really exists, and that it is trapped in a magical prison.
Johan decides to free the King of the Dead. But in doing so, he releases many evil creatures that want to destroy the world. With the help of the King of the Dead, Johan manages to contain them. However, the creature also curses him, making his condition worse. Now, Johan must find a way to cure himself before the evil creatures destroy the world. To do so, he turns to an ancient book of spells, which tells him that the only way to cure his condition is to find the soul of a person who has died from the same syndrome.
La noche era fría, la luna brillaba en lo alto, y a lo lejos, se podía escuchar el ladrido de un perro. El ambiente era inquietante, como si algo malo estuviera a punto de suceder. En una casa aislada, vive un hombre llamado Johan. Johan es un extraño personaje, con un extraño síndrome: el síndrome de Cotard. Esta condición hace que él piense que está muerto, que su cuerpo está degradado, y que la nada es todo lo que existe. Esta creencia lo lleva a comportarse de formas extrañas, como no sentir ninguna emoción, hablar consigo mismo, y comportarse de forma violenta.
Un día, Johan recibe una carta de una persona desconocida. La carta dice que ha estado observando a Johan desde hace tiempo, y que quiere ayudarlo a salir de su condición. Dice que hay una forma de curarlo, pero que para ello necesitará el poder de una criatura mítica llamada el "Rey de los Muertos". A pesar de su condición, Johan decide aceptar la oferta. Así que se dirige a la dirección que le indicaron en la carta. Al llegar allí, descubre un viejo castillo en ruinas. Entra en él y empieza a explorar. Pronto descubre que la criatura mítica existe realmente, y que está atrapada en una prisión mágica.
Johan decide liberar al Rey de los Muertos. Pero al hacerlo, libera a muchas criaturas malignas que quieren destruir el mundo. Con ayuda del Rey de los Muertos, Johan logra contenerlas. Sin embargo, la criatura también lo maldijo, haciendo que su condición empeore. Ahora, Johan debe buscar una forma de curarse antes de que las criaturas malignas destruyan el mundo. Para ello, recurre a un antiguo libro de hechizos, que le dice que la única forma de curar su condición es encontrar el alma de una persona que haya muerto por el mismo síndrome.

After an arduous search, Johan finds the soul and manages to heal himself. At the same time, he also manages to contain the evil creatures. But his condition has changed forever. He now has powers over life and death, and knows that there is nothing more dangerous than himself. Although freed from his condition, Cotard's syndrome left a deep imprint on Johan's life. Now, he knows that nothingness is everyone's destiny, and that nothing can stop him. And that knowledge is enough to keep him safe from harm.
Meanwhile, all around him his mother and younger sister watch him deteriorate and hallucinate on that cold hospital gurney, his body growing weaker by the day and refusing all help to feed himself. Lost in his mind, he is unable to perceive what is really happening. Helplessly they only take his hand and remind him of the immense love they feel for him in spite of everything, Johan makes it clear that the mind can be more powerful than anything else, changing at will what is seen and what is not seen.
Después de una ardua búsqueda, Johan encuentra el alma y logra curarse. Al mismo tiempo, también logra contener a las criaturas malignas. Pero su condición ha cambiado para siempre. Ahora tiene poderes sobre la vida y la muerte, y sabe que no hay nada más peligroso que él mismo. Aunque se liberó de su condición, el síndrome de Cotard dejó una profunda huella en la vida de Johan. Ahora, sabe que la nada es el destino de todos, y que nada puede detenerlo. Y ese conocimiento es suficiente para mantenerlo a salvo de todo mal.
Mientras tanto, a su alrededor su madre y su hermana menor lo observan deteriorarse y alucinar en aquella fría camilla de hospital, su cuerpo cada día está más débil y rechaza toda ayuda para poder alimentarse. Perdido en su mente, es incapaz de percibir lo que en realidad sucede. Impotentes ellas sólo toman su mano y le recuerdan el inmenso amor que sienten por él a pesar de todo, Johan deja claro que la mente puede ser más poderosa que cualquier otra cosa, cambiando a voluntad lo que se ve y lo que no se ve.
