Al árbol le duele la hoja que cae
Como el amante que lo ha perdido todo
así, el árbol
siente la derrota
de la hoja caída.
Cada día menos,
casi nada,
es un príncipe destronado
mago del silencio,
que se sonroja ante la desnudez de su tallo.
Como el amante,
el árbol en el duro otoño,
trémulo ante la pérdida,
añora paladear el claro esplendor
que deja el fuego de los frutos,
las hojas verdes,
y la savia inagotable.

longs to savor the clear splendor
