Lol... I actually feel that they have too many "surprises" too often! Slow down! Hahaha. More seriously, I think they should have more links/posts in the Splinterlands website itself to explain these changes, because not every Splinterlands player is on Hive. The reason why I say this is because I always hear many people asking many questions about the changes and are confused what happened.
You are quite right. I mean even for me who is very active on hive, it's sometimes difficult to keep track :-)

I have yet to stake anything in these pools because I am not sure about the IL I will get from doing so. Other than that, I think it's a good opportunity.

I try to circumvent the IL as follows: I take vouchers that I earn from the game and swap 50% into swap.hive. I then add the remaining vouchers and the swap.hive to the pool. By doing that way I'm not avoiding IL but I actually only add tokens that I have earned in the game. If they take value, I will earn some hive. If they lose value, then well it wouldn't be different from having them in the vallet.
I admit I didn't expect the pools to be added to the in-game interface so quickly. I thought we would see the rewards on the regular diesel pools, but I love the new approach.
The difference between Splinterlands with any other game is that they often surprise you by doing more than what we expect lol.
