Die neue Herausforderung kommt gleich zu beginn der neuen Saison. Mit den Rewards der letzten Saison war ich ganz zufrieden, ich hatte in einem Pack die legendäre Karte Djinn Muirat! Diese fehlte mir noch für den Death Splinter. Heute steht aber eine andere Karte im Fokus.
The new challenge comes right at the beginning of the new season. I was quite satisfied with the rewards of the last season, I had the legendary card Djinn Muirat in one pack! This was still missing for the Death Splinter. Today, however, another card is in focus.
Der Vernari Spellsmith ist eine neutrale Karte aus dem Chaos Legion Set. Als Magie-Monster hat er relativ tiefe Trefferpunkte und ist auch nicht der schnellste. Dafür hat er ab Level 1 die Fähigkeit Dispel. Auf Level 4, also Silber Max., kommt Amplify hinzu. Auf der maximalen Stufe dann schliesslich noch Redemption.
Mit seinen 4 Manakosten lässt er sich auch bei der Regel Little League einsetzten. Ich selbst spiele die Karte offen gestanden relativ selten. Eigentlich nur in Verbindung mit dem Death-Splinter.
Das liegt aber weniger am Spellsmith, viel mehr liegt es an meinem Deck.
The Vernari Spellsmith is a neutral card from the Chaos Legion set. As a magic monster, it has relatively low hit points and is not the fastest. But he has the ability Dispel from level 1. At level 4, i.e. silver max, Amplify is added. Finally, at the maximum level, Redemption is added.
With its 4 mana costs it can also be used with the Little League rule. To be honest, I play the card quite rarely. Actually only in connection with the Death Splinter. But that's not so much because of Spellsmith, it's more because of my deck.

Aim True und Close Range, fasst alle Splinter spielbar und dazu 40 Mana. Ein Kampf, in welchem man recht viele Optionen hat. Bei meinem Gegner hatte ich in der Vorschau gesehen, dass er in den Matches zuvor ein starkes, geleveltes Team im roten Splinter gespielt hatte. Lange war ich versucht Blau zu spielen, entschied mich am Ende aber dann doch für Schwarz.
Aim True and Close Range, almost all Splinters playable and 40 mana. A battle in which you have quite a few options. I had seen in the preview that my opponent had played a strong, leveled team in red Splinter in the previous matches. For a long time I was tempted to play blue, but in the end I decided to play black.
Aufstellung | Lineup
Thaddius ist mit dem Malus auf Magie und Trefferpunkte eigentlich immer irgendwie nützlich. Natürlich kann man dagegen halten, dass es bei Close Range bessere Optionen gibt. Auf der anderen Seite erwartet vielleicht auch niemand einen Thaddius bei dieser Ausgangslage und das kann auch ein Vorteil sein.
Thaddius is actually always kind of useful with the malus on magic and hit points. Of course, you can argue that there are better options at Close Range. On the other hand, maybe no one expects a Thaddius in this starting position and that can also be an advantage.
Im Modern Format wohl mit eine der besten Tank Karten überhaupt. Leider habe ich keine Level 4 Version. Aber schon so ist der Windeku ein echter Brocken. Die Dornen können echt eklig sein und 3 Geschwindigkeit ist für einen Tank auch sehr gut. Mit dem Amplify des Spellsmith werden die Dornen noch mal etwas gefährlicher.

Als Off-Tank kam direkt mein neuer Djinn zum Einsatz. Gleichzeitig war er auf dieser Position ein Snipe-Blocker. Durch die eher hohen Manakosten ist er nicht ganz so oft einsetzbar.

Bei Aim True und Close Range kann der Devil seine Vorteile nicht so richtig ausspielen. Aber Auf Level 4 hat er 3 Fernkampfschaden und 3 Geschwindigkeit, dazu einen Punkt Armor, also alles sehr solide. Deathblow hilft zudem gegen Lama-Kron Kombos.

Der Bonesmith, Lifeleech und Poison, gegen Tanks mit Shield ist er immer eine gute Wahl. Man ist zwar ein wenig abhängig vom Zufall, ob Poison trifft oder nicht, aber ich mag ihn sehr und spielen ihn auch oft.
Auf Position 4 sollte er genügend Zeit haben um ein gutes Polster an Trefferpunkten aufzubauen, so könnte er noch als Tank nützlich sein.
The Bonesmith, Lifeleech and Poison, against tanks with Shield he is always a good choice. You are a bit dependent on chance if Poison hits or not, but I like him a lot and play him often.
At position 4 he should have enough time to build up a good cushion of hitpoints, so he could still be useful as a tank.
Auf Position 5 folgt der Spellsmith. Sein primärer Zweck hier ist dem Tank Amplify zu geben. Dispel ist natürlich auch nützlich, wer weiss welche Buffs der gegnerische Tank so bekommt.
The Spellsmith follows in position 5. Its primary purpose here is to give the tank Amplify. Dispel is of course also useful, who knows what buffs the enemy tank will get.
Wie so oft in meinen Death-Setups folgt auf der letzten Postion Silent Sha-Vi. Gutes Polster an Trefferpunkten, relativ schnell und 3 Schaden sind die Gründe für die Karte. Eine meiner Lieblingskarten aus Chaos Legion.
As so often in my Death setups, Silent Sha-Vi follows in the last position. Good cushion of hit points, relatively fast and 3 damage are the reasons for the card. One of my favorite cards from Chaos Legion.
Der Kampf | The Battle
Okay, damit habe ich nun nicht gerechnet. Ein Death-Team mit Owster 3 meiner Karten haben Magieschaden und Owster gibt allen Reflect Magic. Der Bonesimth kommt damit klar, aber für Muirat ist das nicht ganz so toll.
Positiv ist, dass mein Thaddius so tatsächlich eine sehr gute Wahl war. Auch Muirat auf die 2. Position als Off-Tank und Snipe Blocker zu setzten erweist sich als gute Entscheidung.
Zum Glück treffe ich nicht auf gelevelte Karten, weshalb der Gegner auf einen gelevelten Summoner verzichtet hat weiss ich nicht, aber ich sage Danke.
Okay, now I didn't expect that. A Death Team with Owster 3 of my cards have Magic damage and Owster gives his monsters all Reflect Magic. The Bonesimth can handle it, but it's not all that great for Muirat.
On the positive side, my Thaddius was actually a very good choice that way. Also putting Muirat in 2nd position as an off-tank and snipe blocker turns out to be a good decision. Luckily I don't run into leveled cards, so I don't know why the opponent didn't use a leveled Summoner, but thank you.
Runde 1, seine Backline ist offen und mein Sha-vi hat freie Hand. für seinen Tank sieht es nicht so gut aus. Das hat 2 Gründe, zum einen fehlt ihm die Immunity von Level 2 und so hat er direkt Poison mitgenommen, 2. und noch wichtiger, mein Schaden kommt konzentriert auf die Tank Position.
In meinen Reihen hat der Muirat den Snipe Schaden geschluckt und sieht noch recht frisch aus.

Nach der 2. Runde sieht es für meinen Gegner schon nicht mehr so gut aus. Der Tank ist schon gefallen und sein Off-Tank folgt ihm gleich.
Meinem Windeku geht es noch relativ gut. Alle anderen sind bereits ein wenig angeschlagen, mein Muirat macht es nicht mehr lange, aber dafür ist ein Off-Tank schliesslich da.
Einig meiner Schlange geht es noch blendend und sie freut sich bereits auf eine leckere Mahlzeit.

Nun da ist nicht mehr viel übrig nach Runde 3. nur noch eine verlassene dunkle Lady. Die Aufstellung meines Gegners war aber ehrlich gesagt auch ein wenig komisch.
Well there's not much left after round 3. just a deserted dark lady. To be honest, my opponent's lineup was a bit strange as well.
Silent Sha-vi beendet die Sache in Runde 4 dann auch zügig.

Fazit | Summary
In diesem Match halfen mir die gelevelten Karten sicher enorm. Hätte mein Gegner einen Level 4 Owster ins Feld geführt und dazu vielleicht sogar auch einen Level 4 Spellsmith...
Wie auch immer, so war es nicht und ich konnte einen Sieg für mich buchen.
Mein Set-up hat gut funktioniert, ich weiss jedoch nicht genau wie es ausgesehen hätte, wenn ich es z.B. mit einem Weissen Team zutun bekommen hätte.
Wir sehen uns auf dem Schalchtfeld.
In this match, the leveled cards certainly helped me tremendously. If my opponent had brought a level 4 Owster into the field and maybe even a level 4 Spellsmith... However, it wasn't like that and I was able to book a win for myself. My setup worked well, but I don't know exactly how it would have looked if I had been up against a white team, for example.
