Splinterlands - A Battle With Yodin Zaku vs General Sloan - Battle of Inspired Ranged Attack

Hello Friends,

Chaos Legion edition has brought out summoners for each of the Splinters we have with different dimensional abilities than we had with Alpha/Beta or Untamed editions and one such summoner is General Sloan from Life Splinter which gives +1 ranged attack to all friendly monsters.
Today, I fought an interesting battle involving General Sloan against the ever awesome Yodin Zaku and here I share the details of the battle with you!!!!

General Sloan:

We have been adapted to using +1 armors ability of Tyrus Paladium or +1 health ability summoner of Mother Khala or even that divine shield creator Lorna Shine, but, the General Sloan is something which gives a +1 ranged attack and that is something which will give all of us who couldn't own a Selenia Sky or Yodin Zaku or even Prince Rennyn.
At 3 MANA cost, this monster serves just like a Selenia Sky albeit without giving an option of using with any splinter, it just needs to be used with Life splinter only.

Stats:

General Sloan is among the cheapest of all the Chaos Legion summoners we have costing less than $3 and that makes it the monster to accumulate right now since it will be used more and more to utilize the awesome ranged attack monsters we have from Life splinter such as Peacebringer, Silversield Sheriff, Evangelist or even Air Elemental to name a few.
The stats, as we can see from above screenshot, a maxed out summoner with 115 cards to be combined, will cost around $320 which will definitely pick in terms of price once the chaos Legion packs will be sold out.
The maxed summoner will support all the maxed out monsters from Life splinter and neutral monsters.
Although it lacks the blast ability like the Yodin Zaku has, it can still compete a lot with Yodin Zaku if we create our lineup wisely against the Yodin Zaku.
I had one such opportunity to fight against fearsome Yodin Zaku and as I have said many times, a win against Yodin Zaku will be like reaching moon!!!
Here I go with details of the battle.

Battle and Lineup:

As we can see, this battle was with 24 MANA cap and involved Target Practice (all ranged and magic attack monsters to attack the First ranged/magic attack monster on the other side.
There was another rule set of Stampede (multiple trample attack ability upon removing a monster) and the lineup with general Sloan as summoner was as below:

Lineup:

1. Xenith Monk:

Since the MANA cap was less, I thought of using this at the front to utilize it's self healing ability as most of the attack will be into the Second line because of the target practice rule set.

2. Gelatinous Cube:

One of the best monsters for a target practice rule set battles because of it's self healing along with scavenger ability makes it a strong candidate to keep other monsters alive for longer in the battle and hence, my choice as a First monster in Second line for this battle.

3. Silvershield Bard:

The spare MANA after having lined up the monsters I wanted to use, made me to use this and this also takes that blast attack if any to protect the next monster in line.

4. Silvershield Archers:

This double attack 2 MANA cost monster will be very handy as it can give 2+2 attack in each round if we use this with general Sloan and this was a good add to this lineup.

5. Thunderbird:

This is one of those monsters I use a lot from Life Splinter to utilize the stun ability it has and in this battle, it was used to utilize it's ranged attack which comes with good speed of 4 and the improved ranged attack of 3.

6. Doctor Blight:

Well, don't have to explain much about this guy, right? He means business and he gels with any of those splinter and monsters we have!!!

Opponent used Yodin Zaku summoner and monsters Tusk The Wide, Furious Chicken, Creeping Ooze, Imp Bowman, Fire Demon and Spark Pixies in that order.

Battle:

Round 1:

It's always fun to use the Yodin Zaku and win the battles and also to have it as opponent and still win the battles :)
It was Second one in this battle as Yodin Zaku was against me and the Gelatinous Cube had a great responsibility of taking all the attack and it didn't fail me.
The opponent's 3 ranged attack monsters of Imp Bowman, Fire Demon and Spark Pixies not only targeting the Gelatinous Cube, but also the Xenith Monk and next monster in Second line because of the blast from Yodin Zaku.
The Silvershield Bard and Silvershield Archers got removed from my lineup.
For opponent, Imp Bowman had to bow out and was the only monster to be removed.

Round 2:

Xenith Monk being attacked by all the monsters from other side, got removed First and for opponent, Fire Demon wiped out and only Spark Pixies to be removed to save those Second line monsters.

Round 3:

It was even stevens in this round as Thunderbird and Spark Pixies got removed and the battle continued for 11+ rounds to get rid of next of opponent's monsters i.e his front monster of Tusk The Wide.

Round 4 to 11:

Tusk The Wide evaded getting poisoned from Doctor Blight until round 9 and finally, bowed out in Twelfth round. That almost confirmed the victory for me with those Zero and 1 MANA cost monsters remaining to be removed.

Round 12:

Finally, in round 12, the battle got over and it was a great feeling to beat the Yodin Zaku and the monsters it summoned.
Especially in target practice battles, it's always difficult to beat even level 1 Yodin Zaku, but, Gelatinous Cube and Xenith Monk survived to keep other monsters away from getting attacked and General Sloan smiled with this win!!!!

The introduction of new summoners in Chaos Legion is something we are all enjoying with other summoners also adding value to the battles whether it's Tarsa or Obsidian or even Kelya Frendul.
I hope as always, you enjoyed reading about this battle and I definitely enjoyed writing about this and will keep bringing you all more :)

Thanks and Have a good day :)

It's rare where players share their strategy highlighting the reasons to choose them in the battle. Thank you for the insight. Will help understanding the cards and their purposes when I line them up against an opponent.

Love a good strat that beats Yodin. Sharing this on Splinterlands Digest Twitter.
