Later in the season, it's easy to pick up winning sprees after you surrender some matches in a row first. Just make sure you've already lost a few rounds to players who have better collections than you do. When your Capture Rate is nearly maxed again, hit them up! You will very likely face only players who have worse cards than yourself.

This exactly is the main problem with Splinterlands right now. Real gamers mostly want a fun challenging but fair gaming experience. I really fail to see what it fun in surrendering games so you get matched with payers who have worse cards. The game really turned into the worst kind of pay2win with the collection power system.

I actually disagree, because the above strategy is only valid to those who have a very underpowered collection for their league. I.e., holding only level 3 summoners and not much monster variety at silver league.
