Splinterlands | Purchase Splinterlands Credits Directly with BAT?

I am surprised why this is not a thing yet.

#BAT (Basic Attention Token) is an Ethereum-based token that powers the Brave Browser.

BAT is used to reward users of the Brave Browser for viewing non-intrusive advertisements, basically being rewarded for their attention.

If you are interested in earning BAT passively, feel free to support me by using my referral link when downloading the Brave browser.

I have been playing Splinterlands for over 2 years now, and one of the best additions to the game has been 'Credits'.

Credits are an easy way to use Fiat (PayPal) and other Cryptocurrencies to quickly purchase cards on Splinterlands.

I have been using PayPal for the longest time never really thinking about the Crypto option.

Hive has spoiled me too much.

I don't really like paying fees on my crypto.

But doesn't BAT have fees?

Well, yes and no:

BAT rewards are usually withdrawn to Uphold accounts from the browser.

Withdrawing BAT from Uphold has Zero Fees!

Furthermore, most people who earn BAT probably buy other crypto with the monthly rewards.

However, there is an unexplored opportunity if Splinterlands added BAT as one of the crypto's available to purchase Credits.

I am making an average of $0.16 a day on normal usage on one device and I can't help but wonder how many cheap cards I could pick up at the end of the month using my earnings.

Last month I made $7 worth of BAT and I had to send it to Bittrex, convert it to USD, buy Hive and then send it to my account on the Hive Blockchain just to purchase some Credits.

I wonder how many other people out there would also want an easy way to buy credits with BAT like me.

Mhm, did you realiZe that buying boosters/cards with HIVE via peakmonsters is the cheapest way? @zaku can sing you a song about that :))

I feel like credits are a counter against blockchain volatility in general. The Card Data is saved distributed in the HIVE Chain for good reasons, but the Market should stay somewhat independent - especially since DEC is already Second Layer on the open source Hive-Engine.

I didn't even know that @manniman. Is that because they don't charge a fee or something else? i will definitely have a look at it.

An open market is everything.

They have done a great job integrating other blockchains into the Splinterlands market like they have done with Ethereum. The more accessible it is the better for the financial health of the game. Credits are just one way of allowing people to use fiat.

I used to get pissed off buying crypto from P2P sites and losing most of it in fees just to buy some cards. Now all I need to do is fund my debit card and press a button. Love it!

It goes a little bit like this, but don't 'lawyer' me on it - I just tell you what I know, I'm not part of the staff.

All Booster Packs and all cards are NFTs on the HIVE-Engine. So their price is created by the market itself, demand vs supply. You can find them on the Engine under TOKENS -> 'Splinterlands Untamed Booster Pack'. So while you pay a fixed 2$ in Credits for the Boosters, they are traded for $0.741 aTm on the Hive-Engine. And if you go and buy them via https://peakmonsters.com with DEC, you get some Cashback on your purchase on top of it.

The Market will change against,.. I guess? But that is how it is for quite some time already now.

Oh. I would never buy Booster Packs with credits!

I know how cheap they are on Hive Engine and with Dec. What I didn't know was about the cash back on peakmonsters. I have spent so much money on new Summoners (on splinterlands internal market) and I am pissed to learn that I could have had them at a discount.

The Market has changed, yes, but Splinterlands are making a whole load of cash from card sale fees which is literally infinite.

When you hear the game is worth millions at the moment, it is not shocking to know why!😅😅😅😅

That‘s right, it‘s not shocking. Still they don‘t brag about it.

Quite an interesting perspective you have on BAT - Splinterlands that could be awesome if implemented. It is my second month of using Brave and I'm enjoying the accumulation I might just be HODLing.

I don't much about Hodling BAT but I would think it would be smart for Splinterlands to get in on the action. Imagine buying up those low value cards and when they go out of print, they will naturally go up in value.

You could easily double you BAT fortune quite quickly. :)
