Hey there my incredible Splinterlands community,
How are you all doing this weekend?
In this blog post, I'll talk about a legendary neutral card the Lord Arianthus.
A few weeks ago only a few were using this card. But I'm facing more and more battles against this monster these days. So, decided to give it a try.
In low to mid-mana-cap battles, my best bet was Lorna Shine. This Life summoner helped me to win numerous low and mid mana cap battles.
But the real problem arises when the Life splinter is inactive for any battle. You have to pick a supplementary card.
Then a few days ago, I rented this legendary card to add to my anti-magic death team. Slowly I discovered that this is the perfect tank card for mid to low mana cap battles.
BATTLE STATS AND ABILITIES OF THE LORD ARIANTHUS
Before I share my strategy and the battle, let's talk about the stats and abilities of this card.
Lord Arianthus is a legendary neutral unit card from the reward edition. This card was not so popular a few weeks ago.
This no-attack card costs 5 mana to use in the battle which makes this card a mid-mana-cost card.
Talking about the abilities, this monster has the 'shield' and 'void' ability starting from level 1, with these abilities, it takes reduced damages from melee and magic attacks..
At level 2, it gains the 'magic reflect' ability, which makes this card reduced magic damage back to the attacker when hit with the magic damage.
At level 3, the 'thorns' ability is applied. Using this ability, when hit with a melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.
Stats of this card also increases through levels, 1 speed, and, 6 health in level 1, to 1 speed, and 8 health in level 2 and 3.
At the highest level 4, the stats of this card are 1 speed, and, 9 health.
What is the best ruleset and summoner to use Lord Arianthus ?
As this is a neutral monster, you can use this card with any summoner. But to use it effectively, you should use it with the summoners having attack-debuff abilities like Bortus from the Water splinter, Zintar Mortalis and Thaddius Brood from the Death splinter, and Camila Sungazer and Quix The Devious from the dragon splinter.
This is so that this card can sustain for a long time and in the meantime can do reflect-damages to the opponent's team.
Alternatively, the Byzantine Kitty and the Chanseus The great also can be used with this effectively.
The Byzantine Kitty will keep healing this card while Chaseus The Great can resurrect it when gets destroyed.
THE BATTLE
Now, it's time to share my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won using the Lord Arianthus in my team.
RULESET
Mana Cap: 19
Ruleset:
Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
Heavy Hitter: All monsters have the knock-out ability.
Active Splinter: Earth, Life, Death, Dragon.
My Strategy and Team Setup
As one of the rulesets was the 'reverse speed' I was certain that my opponent will use either Goblin Psychic from the Earth splinter or the Ancient Lich as the main monster.
But making me completely surprised he used Archmage Arius as the summoner and the Mycelic Infantry as the main monster.

A Few Words About The Lord Arianthus
The more I use the Lord Arianthus, the more I start loving it. I mean why not?
First, it's a mid mana cost card and a neutral one. This means you can use it in almost all battles except a few.
Second, in low to mid mana cap battles, almost everyone uses either melee or magic attacks because no one dares to use any ranged attack card except the 'close range' rule set.
And this card is a perfect tank card against both the melee and the magic attacks. And if you can combine this card with any 'amplify' ability card, this card becomes much deadlier.
And the rent cost is also moderate for this card.
There's the only drawback and that is the Lord Arianthus is nearly ineffective against the ranged attacks. Still, it can withstand a few attacks because it has a good amount of health and if you can add armor to it it can survive a few more attacks.
So, now we have our perfect card for low to mid mana cap battles and we don't have to completely depend on the Lorna Shine.
