This week in Splinterlands...

in Splinterlandslast year

This week has been a bit slower (at least so far) in terms of substantial developments in the world of Splinterlands but there have definitely been a few things worth the attention of the community. Let us get straight to the point by discussing the most interesting (at least for me) parts of yesterday's Town Hall.
  • It began with an interesting discussion of potential SPS listings on Top 10 crypto exchanges. The discussion was related to a currently ongoing Pre-Proposal which was going to basically fail but it seems that this helped with making it a bit more popular, so we will see how that goes. Anyhow, Aggroed presented to the viewers Aly, a Blockchain Founders Fund board member, who is actually also the head of the foundation, which is responsible for the governance of the SPL DAO. The main take-away from the discussion was that they could not give concrete figures about how much each listing would cost because of the NDAs which had to be signed with the exchanges before that, however, both Aggroed and Aly reassured the community that now was the perfect time for this to happen as the fees the exchanges would charge are significantly lower due to the bear market. While I don't think this is 100% vital for us right now, I would love it if SPS gets more exposure to a wider audience of potential buyers. It would be great if we get a listing on Binance for sure.

  • Next on the agenda was a discussion with Jarvie from Peakmonsters. He was on to show off a pretty exciting new funcitionality on their site which would surely help a lot of new and current players get the decks they would like to play by either buying or renting the cards with just a few easy clicks. This is definitely a gamechanger for people who are into renting a lot of cards and also for those who just don't know where to start.

  • Jarvie was followed by Investygator who gave us an overview of the newest build which was being pushed this week. Here are the most important points on that.
They improved the filtering by making available filters based on the new Set and Subsets

  • There were also a few important gameplay updates:

  • I think these changes are good, specifically the one concerning Camouflage and Scatter Shot but more on that later. Ivestygator also touched upon a few changes related to the Tech Modernization and the way the Node License and Voucher menus display stuff as well as some General Updates most notable of which was the addition of an end of Chaos Legion sale leaderboard page, which would be available off the Chaos Legion pack page once the last million packs were reached. This is related to a recent announcement the team made related to packs sold after the 14M mark has been passed - Splinterlands' Chaos Legion - Let's Sunset in Style
  • The last but definitely not least announcement Investygator made was that the Season Rentals were going live next week which was great news for every person who just hated having to constantly track which rentals had been cancelled upon their poor soul.

  • However, this also sparked a bit of a controversy since in addition to the Season Rentals the team announced they would introduce a 1 DEC or Credit fee for listing or updating the price of Market items to reduce the high frequency of market repricing. This, of course, is an unwelcome change for all those who like to list a bunch of low-level cards with the help of services such as Splex.gg. I also have a bit of cards listed for rent through Splex but if this change will be beneficial to the server stability and overall game stability, we will have to learn to live without optimizing prices every few minutes.

  • Next on the list was Weirdbeard and the most important announcement he made was the final list with the five people who would serve as Community Leaders for the next however many months (I think it was 3 but don't quote me on that). So the names are: Simsahas, GenePoolChlrn8r, Moriarty95, Dave McCoy, Schneegecko. I am a bit disappointed Gank did not make it to the final 5 as he was my favorite but at least I know 4 of these 5 people are actively participating in most community discussions in Mav. Chat and elsewhere. What's interesting is that Simsahas, Moriarty95 and Schneegecko are all members of the same guild. I guess their guild has quite a few loyal followers.

  • Finally we have gotten to the Creative Section with Nate and the most exciting (for most/some) part of this weeks Town Hall. Nate finally got to reveal the art, name and abilities of the last CL Legendary Summoner - Lily Shieldpaw.

image.png

  • Let's discuss the art first. I am disappointed, I won't lie, and it is not because the card was designed by Byzantinist (the same guy who designed the Byzantine Kitty) and everybody knows he is into cute stuff but because I feel the art of the card seems unfinished/unpolished and does not meet the standards we have gotten used to in the past year. If I had no idea what I was looking at I would think this was an Alpha/Beta card in terms of its visual appearance. Well it is what it is I guess, I doubt they will make any changes to it as it is bound to be released in the wild in just a few days.

  • So now for the stats --> Lily Shieldpaw is a Dragon Splinter Summoner and she provides +1 Health to all friendly Monsters, Camouflage to all friendly Monsters and Triage to all friendly Monsters. I told you earlier that the Scatter Shot change was of a great significance specifically because of Lily. Had they not made that change, she would basically have no apparent counter, and now it seems that Jacek is the number one enemy of cute little red pandas. Her abilities are definitely interesting and I think she will make for a great addition to the Dragon Splinter. I can't say right now how good she will be but she will definitely be good, no doubt about that.

Well this is it for now - yet another exciting week in the world of Splinterlands is upon us. Play More, Bot Less! <3
