TRAITS MAPPING : EARTH SPLINTER MAGIC CARD

Those who join Splinterlands at the time of Chaos Legion editions will agree that Earth Splinter is a favorite choice for magic card formation. Earth Splinter have a lot of starting cards which lean toward strong magic formation. Take for example Obisidian as summoner which provide +1 magic damage; Regal Peryton with its high speed and Flying ability; and then there's Goblin Pyschic which paired very well with Mycelic Slipspwan. Not to mention the free starter card from Untamed edition, Khmer Princess which fill up any leftover mana. So without further ado, lets check this fantastic collection!

Earth Splinter have a total 15 magic card across Promo, Reward, Untamed, Dice, Chaos Legion, and Riftwatchers collection. It's a big number compared with other Splinter. Only 2 cards available for Normal and Rare type, the remainder come from Rare and Legendary type. The collection have very good card distribution, with the highest number of card concentration on 4 mana up to 6 mana. This make magic card very versatile to be deployed for low up to upper-middle mana cap battle, and quite affordable since its composed by of Normal and Rare type. The lowest and highest mana card usually filled by Legendary type card, as we have Runemancer Florre (13 mana) and Kron The Undying (10 mana) as the highest mana card. But in contrary the lowest mana card is Khmer Princess (2 mana) which come from Rare type, thus making this card more affordable.

The Level 1 chart show that majority of the card have close distance one over another within boundary of 0.5 damage-mana ratio and 1.0 health-mana ratio. Notable features could be found on several cards which have health-mana ratio above 1.0 tick. For example Regal Peryton (No.10) which have the highest speed and the second highest health-mana ratio. And then there's also Centauri Mage which have the highest health-mana ratio, but compensated by having the lowest damage-mana ratio. Speed isn't Earth Splinter dominant traits as average cards start as red nodes. Abilities are decent with almost all cards already starting with single abilities.

Once Max Level have been reached, a lot of growth is happening. Khmer Princess (No.9) take the lead in health-mana ratio by entering the south-east quadrant at 2.5 tick. This is common to cards with less than 3 mana, but still very incredible for 2 mana card to reached 5 health. The remaining card also grow significantly in term of health ended with majority cards have health-mana ratio above 1.0. Damage doesn't seemed to be a superior feature, as there's no cards reach damage-mana ratio quite far above the 0.5 tick. Djinn Bilka is an exception. The 3 mana card posses 3 damage. Last but not least, abilities seemed to be the domain for Earth Splinter. At Max Level, there are 10 cards out of 15 cards which possess more than 3 abilities.

It's common to have fewer Striker abilities on magic card collection. Some abilities which modified targeting (Opportunity, Sneak, Scattershot, etc.) or non related to magic (Shatter and Piercing) are rarely or not seen on magic card. But this collection semeed to have very few Striker abilities. Support abilities are heavily dominating the collection. Debuff abilities (like Rust, Silence, and Slow) could easily be found. Tank Heal and Triage also found a lot. Goblin Psychic and Khmer Princess are the main healer card, as they both not only at least 2 healing abilities with them.

Personal Thought

This final section, I give my personal thought for several card mentioned below.

'1. Runemancer Florre

image.png
It's very rare to have raw cards with no abilities. Runemancer Florre are not a pure magic card, since its have a large ranged damage. But even so the combined damage and the huge health could help this card play its role as mortar-launching card in back row. Care must be taken as it is not cheap to deploy this card. There's always a diminishing return from deploying high mana card (I plan explain this later in specific posts). In mid mana battle, it somehow always better to split mana by deploy for example a 6 mana and 7 mana card (take for example a combination of Regal Peryton and Centauri Mage).

'2. Djinn Bilka

image.png
Its always good to bring Djinn Bilka in any battle. The 3 mana cost make this very practical to be used as main card or just filler card. But the notable thing, this card have 1:1 damage-mana ratio, a very efficient damage maker. The low health are very well covered by Camouflage ability. Other abilities are less useful, other than just stepping stone before attaining the final damage growth on max level.

'3. Khmer Princess

image.png
Goblin Psychic are a powerful healer for Earth Splinter, but Khmer Princess are beyond the master healer of all. It have double heal, Tank Heal and Triage abilities. And with 3 speed means this card card could heal in between, not too early but also not too late. The 5 health although low are very efficient in comparison with its 2 mana.

'4. Kron The Undying

image.png
Kron The Undying is the card you would wish to avoid at all cost in any battle. A deep strategy would be needed to counter this card. Huge health grant a great leverage toward Heal ability. And this combination are the super-juice to have trigger the Last Stand ability. It usual to find expect this card in the back-most row. So Sneak ability is the best way to bring it down, and at least 2 cards with Sneak ability and 3+ damage. Divine Shield might delay the raid by one round. Bringing Weaken are a good way to bring down the heal effect into 3 health.
