Hi all, this time i want to make Battle Weekly Challenge about Ilthain Summoner, it's New Epic summoner from Riftwatchers deck, with elemen Life. If you are new and interested in play this Card Battle Game can go here https://splinterlands.com?ref=poplar-22
She was a member of a notorious guild known as Silver Shield and she was also a Martial Arts expert. She became very popular among her people when she defeated rebellions in Khymeria and brought peace and prosperity into the land.
When she died, her body was placed into a tomb built inside Peace of Light Monastery. Ilthain gained the status of "Saint" on her first anniversary due to supplications made by her devotees.
Ilthain found herself alive again after 71 years of eternal sleep. She remained in the dark and never revealed herself to her people, but she has more questions than answers. So, she went out to look for the clues of her resurrection, could it be the magic of Chaos Legion?
Mana Cost requirement 4.
Strengths :
- It has skill increase speed, it's nice boost for all of friendly monster, because usually life monster only have decent speed.
- Skill return Fire, every time attacked by a range type monster, the attacking monster will get a damage. Damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up, does not apply to magic and melee attacks.
Weaknesses :
- Skill Return Fire, Can only counterattack Range-type monsters, if the enemy brings a lot of Magic/Meele monsters it will be difficult battle for Ilthain.
Battle Preparation and Review
- Ruleset Briar Patch : all monster have skill thorn (everytime monster meele-type attack other monster it will have reflect damage +2)
- Mana cap 24
- Can bring element Fire, Water, Life, and Death
I am Battle in Gold League using Silver deck Max.
This is my lineup card :
- Fly (increases the ability to dodge monsters against melee and range attacks) - Magic reflect (when attacked by a magic type monster, will reflect the attack causing damage to the attacker) | Pelacor Conjurer used because of Magic Reflect skill, rather high speed and with fly skill will ensure to have some miss when attacked, combined with low mana requirement is very good monster
- Magic reflect (same skill like Pelacor Conjurer to reflect magic damage) | As 2nd anti magic cause i'm affraid if only pelacor conjurer not strong enough to receive damage from magic
- Amplify (increase magic reflect, return fire and thorns damage by 1) | To give more damage for Thorns ruleset (meele type), return fire skill from summoner Ilthain (range type) and magic reflect skill from pelacor conjurer and Binding Reflector (magic type)
- Tank Heal (recovers the monster's HP in first position) | Especially to extend life of pelacor conjurer and Binding Reflector by heal some of their HP
- Flying (increases the ability to dodge monsters against melee and range attacks) - Opportunity (attacks enemy monsters with the lowest HP) | Actually this one is mistake, i shouldn't used it because Thorns Ruleset, i think i forget about that rulese when choose, for this battle he can still give good damage to enemy before he died
- Strengthen (all friendly monsters have increased HP | As tanker in backline, strengthen boost all HP from our monster, it's got some good damage too to enemy player |
Short explanation about enemy summoner Waka Spiritblade, it make all enemy monsters' attacks have a 50% chance of dealing poison.
After being poisoned, at the beginning of each round you will be exposed to 2 damage.
Round 1 :
This round begins with the Strengthen buff (increases the HP of all monsters), both from our monsters and enemies.
All magic-type enemy monsters that attack take reflected damage from the Pelacor Conjurer, meele (Curse Windeku) and the enemy's Range (Soul Strangler) do not receive reflected damage because their attacks miss.
Round 2 :
- The Celestial Harpy died from attacking an enemy Revealer and was hit by the Thorns ruleset.
- Pelacor Conjurer dies after taking a magic attack and reflecting it back.
- 2 enemy magic-type monsters die from the reflected magic of the Pelacor Conjurer
Round 3 :
- Enemy's range/arrow hit by the reflected effect of Ilthain's skill takes 3 damage because it is amplified by Dax Paragon, without the amplification it will only receive 2 reflected damage.
- Curse Windeku enemy died
Here we can be sure of winning because even if the range of the enemy can attack it will receive a bounce back attack and Xenith Monk who is affected by thorns when attacking will receive 3 damage due to Dax Paragon's amplify skill.
Meanwhile, on our side there are still monsters with magic and range type attacks that are not hit by reflections.
Round 4-5 :
All enemy monster is die and we win.

Strategy
This strategy works well because of the thorns rule that reflects the Meele monster's attacks. That's why we just need to focus on Range and Magic type Monsters.
The reason i put my card in that position :
By using the summoner Ilthain and monsters that reflect magic (Pelacor Conjurer and Binding Reflector) combined with ruleset thorns, we can reflect all types of enemy attacks. And supported by Venary Crystalsmith Tank Heal will make Pelacor Conjurer and Binding Reflector life longer. Celestial Harpy and Djin Renova i put behind as attacker and tanker backline.
Here the enemy made the mistake of using 2 meele-type monsters, Xenith Monk placed behind although can heal itself but cannot attack, because this is the Thorns rule set, of course we will not use monsters that attack the enemy's back (sneak skill),
The monsters that have sneak skills usually are Meele type which will be affected by thorns, so the enemy Xenith Monk is not effectively placed behind.
What will you try differently next time?
While we also made the mistake of using the Celestial Harpy, which frankly I also forgot when I choose it, if this is the thorns ruleset, next time I will try using a Xenith Archer who has 2 mana and it is range type monster to replace the Celestial Harpy, so the damage not reflected back
As players, we sometimes make mistakes even though we already know at first what should not be used, but when choosing a monster, we sometimes forget, even so, sometimes these mistakes make us find a new strategy that makes us win, as an example in this battle, Celestial Harpy attacks magic-type monsters and make them die faster.
At another time on the same ruleset I will try to compare using the xenith archer compared to the Celestial Harpy.
That's how we keep learning, both from our wins and our defeats, that's what makes this game always interesting to play, there's always something new to learn.
There are some monsters that are immune to reflected damage which we will not discuss in depth this time, but I will only give a few examples of monsters in silver league such as
- Magic Reflected (Oshuur Constantia, Kain Hace),
- Return Fire (didn't find it for silver range league monsters, but upper range league/level monsters have it like Runic Skyclaw, Ash Mirage),
- Thorns (Venator Kinjo, Tide Biter, Corsair Bosun)
Thank you all for reading.
