Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
In this week's Community Engagement Challenge, the task was to share my favorite card synergies in action, synergies that could turn the tide of a battle when used at the right moment. Given that, I want to share one of my favorite trio combinations, using the Archon Elias Max Pruitt, as well as the units Silverblade Fighter, and Commander Slade, cards that were almost inseparable, whenever they became available for a match. Well, they were not an unbeatable team, and there will always be a counter for them to maintain balance in the game, but it always feels great when I win a match using this combination.
Anyway, let us take a look at these cards to see how they make a powerful combo.
Trio Card Synergy
The idea with these card combinations is pretty straightforward. First, Water and Life Element should be part of the playable elements, and melee units above 4 mana cost should be available. Then use Elias Max Pruitt for the Archon to let us summon units from both Life Element, which Silverblade Fighter belongs to, and Water Element, which Commander Slade belongs to. As for the positioning, Silverblade Fighter goes in the first position, while Commander Slade will be next in it, so much like this.

Usually, we do not place another melee unit in the second position, unless they have Reach or Charge ability, but with the Flank ability from Silverblade Fighter, Commander Slade now gets the Reach ability. Not to mention, Silverblade Fighter also has the Void Armor ability that prevents magic units from directly damaging its health, and Protect, which gives all units +2 armor. Add that to its 7 base armor and the +1 armor that Elias Max Pruitt gives, then it will have a total of 10 armor, which will allow it to sustain some decent amount of damage before it is defeated.
Meanwhile, we will use the Armored Strike and Pierce ability tactics from Elias max Pruitt and assign it to Commander Slade, so that it can not only attack with its melee damage but also attack using its armor, which were both boosted by Elias max Pruitt and Silverblade Fighter to 6 melee damage and 10 Armored Strike damage. Commander Slade is really fast too, so it attacks quite early in the round, and barely misses its attacks.
Compatible Rulesets
For most of the time, these combinations were good in many battles, but I think they shine the most in the following rulesets.
 Up Close & Personal | Only Monsters with  Melee attack may be used in battles. |
 Rise of the Commons | Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles. |
 Armored Up | All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. |
Battle Showcase
Battle 1:
In this battle, we got the Up Close & Personal ruleset, so only cards with melee attack can be used in battle, just makes a perfect opportunity to use this combo, and immediately, my Commander Slade has landed 10 damage on the opponent. Throughout the battle, Silverblade Fighter was eventually defeated and Commander Slade also suffers damage, but not after taking down many of the opponent units.
Battle 2:
This time, while both teams can only use common and rare units in battle, I provided lots of support cards to keep my combo at play with Grimbardun Smith and Anachron Bolter to sustain the armor with Repair, Anasth Soothsayer for the Tank Heal, and Janni Rebel for the Inspire. And while the battle took a while, the only unit that was defeated in my team was Silverblade Fighter.
Battle 3:
For the last battle that I would like to show, you can see that I still have Gimbardun Smith and Anachron Bolter to help restore the armor of my combo, but then, instead of a health support, I decided to go with another card that will increase the armor of my units, hence, the addition of Nimbledook Explorer, that helps to offset the armor that I lost due to the Rust ability of the opponent. At the same time, you can see that the opponent's tank has Thorns, which inflicts damage to melee units that attack the card. But that was not an issue to Commander Slade since it has the Deflect ability, which makes it immune to blast and reflected damage.
Closing
When Elias Max Pruitt was first revealed, some players got dissatisfied with its tactics abilities, but as people played it and discovered the cards that could synergize greatly with this Archon, people began to have a change of heart about this Archon, but I always see this as a fairly good Archon, and it has been my favorite one for a long time, along with Silverblade Fighter and Commander Slade until today.

Definitely one of my favourite trios in the game at the moment, although I do like it when the “are you not entertained” rule set comes around and you can throw Eleanor behind Slade
