THE NIGHT OF THE RAVEN

Don't be afraid of my black clothes,
colours don't have bad feelings,
neither do they define the personality you wear,
everything will depend on a pre-valued concept,
on the criteria imposed on you where you grew up.

Don't let my black wings scare you, beautiful truths?
I am not the bearer of bad luck, but I could invoke it on you,
nor do I bring with me any tragedy,
pity you were taught to dodge the different,
nor am I to blame for my animal appearance.

Don't let my bold vocabulary scare you,
if I make you think, it won't kill you,
I do make you question the steps you take,
it's not to make you stray from the path,
but to make your judgement truly resolute,
not to be like your neighbours' parakeet,
when he feels the rain he repeats what he has learned.

May you not be frightened by my worn claws,
time too is passing, even if you fly with desire,
wisdom sometimes makes you look like a gargoyle,
if you look closely into my eyes,
you'll know I'd be incapable of anything,
I only watch you from this very high branch.

If I approach you it's because there's something attractive about you,
you have a shining thing that makes you irresistible,
sometimes I sin of a thief and I want to steal from you,
I collect everything that reflects the golden light,
but your radiance is your only treasure,
that's why I could never take it away from you.

Don't be afraid of me, I am not a strange creature,
I only come to admire you, you emit a light that enchants me.
The darkness of my appearance, don't let it deceive you,
flowers also have shadows, even if you don't realise it.
I only come to rejoice, an interesting night theatre,
from the peace of your flaming eyes, an unforgettable silver mirror,
that as long as you keep your kindness, young man of merciful spirit,
I shall not have to steal them from you, yet the glitter is tempting.
