Regreso al Halo (parte 10)
Después de la abrupta interrupción del Almirante Oliver Almeida, la reunión prosiguió con las declaraciones de los miembros de la facción parlamentaria de Perséfone, hasta que fue repentinamente interrumpida después de que el presidente del Parlamento fuera informado de una situación imprevista no divulgada.
Rápidamente el presidente, los miembros del alto mando militar y algunos otros miembros del parlamento salieron de la sala, en dirección a la oficina de la dirección del Parlamento, a ellos los siguieron el resto de los asistentes, que desocuparon la habitación sin mayor prisa.
―Almirante, quisiera hablar con usted ―dijo un individuo de como de un metro noventa y cinco de estatura, escaso cabello cano, tez amarillenta y un rostro alargado y ojeroso que a Oliver se le antojo parecido al de una cabra, que corrió tras él, para alcanzarlo en el pasillo de salida de la sala plenaria.
―¿Qué desea?, tengo prisa―respondió Oliver oscamente.
―Soy el doctor Armando Gamboa, investigador en astrobiología y astroarqueología de la academia de Palas… ―respondió el hombre, extendiendo su mano a Oliver.
―Prosiga doctor, ¿que desea? ―dijo Oliver, ignorando el saludo.
―Fui director de la tesis doctoral de Edith Palmer, ella fue durante un periodo, hace poco más de ochocientos años, pasante de la facultad en el proyecto de investigación de Quimera ―explicó Gamboa.
―¿Qué hay con eso doctor?, por favor tengo prisa ―dijo Oliver impaciente.
―Edith estuvo realizado su investigación en Quimera, durante el periodo en que se dieron los acontecimientos del Halo, en los que usted estuvo involucrado si mal no recuerdo.
―Bien y ¿qué con eso?
―No estoy seguro, pero casi podría afirmar que los ataques sobre su flota y los posteriores, estuvieron relacionados con la ocurrencia de raros eventos en el Planeta, específicamente con los cristalodermos ―explicó Gamboa.
―¿Qué tipo de eventos? ―preguntó Oliver
―Extrañas migraciones y cantos que…
―Cantos, ¿está haciéndome perder el tiempo por cantos? ―interrumpió Oliver.
―Es que fue un evento que nunca antes había sido documentado, y dada la relación que ahora parece existir, entre los cristalodermos y los alienígenas que han atacado las naves en el halo, creo que existe algún tipo de correlación.
―Lo siento doctor, si cree que tiene algo, hágaselo saber al delegado de la comisión de ciencia del Parlamento, ellos se encargarán ―dijo Oliver, mientras retomaba su paso.
―¡Almirante! ―exclamó Gamboa, mientras trataba de igualar el paso de Oliver, buscando que se detuviera nuevamente ―. Ha vuelto a suceder, hace un mes, justo cuando fue atacada GB01 y me acaban de informar mis asistentes, que se repitió hace menos de quince minutos.
―¿Dijo que ocurrió hace quince minutos? ―preguntó Oliver, dándose la vuelta en dirección a Gamboa.
―Sí, me lo acaban de notificar por enlace cuántico
―Venga conmigo, tenemos una reunión de alto mando militar a la que asistir ―dijo Oliver, tomando por el brazo bruscamente a Gamboa.
―¿Qué sucede? ―preguntó sorprendido.
―Hace diez minutos, dos naves alienígenas, acaban de atacar a una patrulla del componente de Titan, en territorio inu ―dijo Oliver, a la vez que tiraba del brazo a Gamboa, forzándolo a caminar con él―. Esa fue la razón por la que se suspendió la asamblea, sólo lo sabemos los integrantes del alto mando, el presidente del Parlamento y el presidente de la comisión de defensa… ―hizo una pausa mientras aceleraba el paso ―. Y si es cierto lo que me dice, también los saben sus cristalodermos.

Return to the Halo (part 10)
After the abrupt interruption by Admiral Oliver Almeida, the meeting continued with statements by members of the Persephone parliamentary faction, until it was suddenly interrupted after the president of the Parliament was informed of an undisclosed unforeseen situation.
Quickly the president, the members of the military high command and some other members of parliament left the room, heading for the office of the parliamentary leadership, they were followed by the rest of the attendees, who vacated the room without further haste.
-Admiral, I would like to speak with you, -said an individual about one meter ninety-five tall, with thinning gray hair, yellowish complexion and an elongated and haggard face that Oliver thought looked like a goat's, who ran after him to catch up with him in the hallway leading out of the plenary room.
-What do you want, I'm in a hurry, -Oliver answered darkly.
-I am Dr. Armando Gamboa, researcher in astrobiology and astroarchaeology at the academy of Palas... -the man answered, extending his hand to Oliver.
-Hello doctor, what do you want, -said Oliver, ignoring the greeting.
-I was the director of Edith Palmer's doctoral thesis, she was for a period, a little over eight hundred years ago, a faculty intern on the Chimera research project, -Gamboa explained.
-What about that doctor, please, I'm in a hurry, -said Oliver impatiently.
-Edith was doing her research in Chimera, during the period of the Halo events, in which you were involved if I remember correctly.
-Well, what about it?
-I'm not sure, but I could almost say that the attacks on your fleet and the ones that followed were related to the occurrence of rare events on the Planet, specifically with the crystalloderms - explained Gamboa.
-What kind of events? -asked Oliver.
-Strange migrations and chants that....
-Chants, are you wasting my time for chants? -interrupted Oliver.
-It's just that it was an event that had never been documented before, and given the relationship that now seems to exist, between the crystalloderms and the aliens that have attacked the ships in the halo, I believe there is some sort of correlation.
-I'm sorry doctor, if you think you have something, let the delegate of the Parliament's science committee know, they'll take care of it, - said Oliver, as he resumed his pacing.
-Admiral! -exclaimed Gamboa, as he tried to match Oliver's pace, trying to get him to stop again -. It happened again, a month ago, just when GB01 was attacked, and I have just been informed by my assistants, that it happened again less than fifteen minutes ago.
-You said it happened fifteen minutes ago? -Oliver asked, turning in Gamboa's direction.
-Yes, I was just notified by quantum link.
-Come with me, we have a military high command meeting to attend, -said Oliver, grabbing Gamboa's arm roughly by the arm.
-What's going on? -he asked in surprise.
-Ten minutes ago, two alien ships just attacked a patrol of the Titan component in Inu territory, - said Oliver, while pulling Gamboa's arm, forcing him to walk with him-. That was the reason why the assembly was suspended, only the members of the high command, the president of the Parliament and the president of the defense committee know that... - he paused as he quickened his walk -. And if what you tell me is true, so do your crystalloderms.
