Regreso al Halo (parte 14)
―Es una prioridad reestablecer el transito a Barnard, nuestros efectivos están aislados allá y no la comunicación está restringida por al enlace cuántico de Barnard01 ―dijo De Sousa en reunión, ante los comandantes de los diferentes componentes militares.
Ocho horas antes, una pequeña nave de transporte, piloteada por un androide, había sido autorizada para transitar el puente que conectaba la galaxia de Barnard con el espacio de baja densidad estelar entre los brazos de Orión y Exterior. La nave portaba un explosivo de antimateria que, al ser detonado en el interior del puente, provocó su colapso, dejando aislado a los humanos que se encontraban en Barnard.
―Senador De Sousa, debo recordarle que aun tenemos pendiente la discusión sobre la relación de los cristalodermos con los alienígenas hostiles ―dijo el almirante Almeida, interrumpiendo a De Sousa.
―Creo que esta situación es más apremiante almirante ―respondió De Sousa.
―Ya hay una división de ingenieros trabajando en el restablecimiento del puente, en Barnard, la Almirante Cho es muy capaz y ella podrá solucionar este percance por si misma ―dijo Almeida ―. Afortunadamente, en Barnard01 poseen semillas para regenerar el puente. Así que esto no es más que un contratiempo, no es una situación que requiera de mayor discusión, la investigación de las causas y los responsables, ya es otra cosa. Pero no podemos hacer nada al respecto, hasta que se hagan los reconocimientos forenses respectivos ―explicó ―. Así que, creo que deberíamos dedicar el tiempo que tenemos a discutir esta situación, que si es apremiante. Puede haber una guerra en puerta y estamos retrasando la investigación de nuestra única pista sobre el origen del enemigo que nos asecha.
―Concuerdo con el almirante ―dijo Sorensen ―. Además, creo que no soy el único interesado en escuchar lo que tiene que explicar el experto que ha traído el almirante Almeida.
Tras una indicación el doctor Armando Gamboa, se levantó del asiento que desde hace varias horas ocupaba, a esperas de ser convocado a dar su declaración.
―Hace ochocientos treinta y nueve años, la candidata a doctora Edith Palmer, quien realizaba su pasantía en la estación de monitoreo de Quimera, descubrió un extraño comportamiento entre los cristalodermos y ese comportamiento coincidió con la ocurrencia de los sucesos del halo, acaecidos entonces ―explicó Gamboa
―Y, ¿qué concluyó la investigación de la doctora? ―preguntó Sorensen.
―Nada señor, Edith nunca concluyó su trabajo … ―Gamboa guardo silencio por un momento ―. El caso es señor, que desde hace unas semanas el mismo comportamiento se está repitiendo y según he podido comprobar, al cotejar la fecha y horas de los últimos acontecimientos, estos extraños comportamientos coinciden exactamente y dada la reciente evidencia de que, la composición de las naves alienígenas contiene material proveniente de los cristalodermos, creo que existe evidencia de un enlace entre estos seres y los alienígenas hostiles.
―Entiendo que puede existir una relación, pero, ¿cómo pueden los cristalodermos, estar al tanto de lo que sucede?, estamos hablando de miles de años luz de distancia entre Quimera y los lugares de los ataques ―preguntó Almeida.
―Lo único que se me ocurre es un enlace cuántico como los que nosotros usamos ―dijo Gamboa.
―Entiendo que puede existir un nexo, a fin de cuentas, se supone que los cristalodermos y las naves enemigas son lo mismo, pero como puede esto ayudarnos a saber más de, a que nos enfrentamos, si ni siquiera entendemos aun a los cristalodermos ―dijo Sorensen.
―Si existe un enlace cuántico entre ellos, que sería lo que los mantiene conectados con sus congéneres, y podemos descifrar uno de los nodos de ese enlace, podemos conocer la ubicación de los restantes nodos de la red ―explicó Gamboa.
―¿Y eso que significa? ―dijo De Sousa
―Que podríamos conocer la ubicación de los alienígenas en cualquier momento ―intervino Almeida.

-The only thing I can think of is a quantum link like the ones we use -said Gamboa.

-If there is a quantum link between them, which would be what keeps them connected to their fellows, and we can decipher one of the nodes of that link, we can know the location of the remaining nodes of the network - explained Gamboa.
-And what does that mean? -said De Sousa.
-That we could know the location of the aliens at any time, -interjected Almeida.
