Si alguna vez la ciudad de Algeciras llegase a proteger su casco antiguo eliminando cartelerías, cableados, señales de tráfico y pintadas, deberían de empezar por esta joya arquitectónica de finales del siglo XIX.
If the city of Algeciras were ever to protect its old town by removing signage, wiring, road signs and graffiti, they should start with this late 19th century architectural jewel.
Esta finca es una de las supervivientes de la mala urbanización y sin control. Derribos de edificios y casas de estilo clásico andaluz, construyendo de cualquier manera. Por suerte este edificio ya está protegido del derribo, pero no de la ruina, por lo que necesitará un aporte económico exterior para poder seguir en pie y llegue a tener el esplendor que tuvo a principios del siglo XX.
This estate is one of the survivors of bad and uncontrolled urbanisation. Demolitions of classical Andalusian style buildings and houses, building by any means necessary. Fortunately this building is already protected from demolition, but not from ruin, so it will need a financial contribution from outside to be able to remain standing and reach the splendour it had at the beginning of the 20th century.
El edificio destaca por su mirador con ventanales acristalados con marcos de madera. Su cubierta está terminada con tejas y encima una cúpula con ventanales hecha de ladrillos y azulejos.
The building is notable for its bay window with glazed windows with wooden frames. Its roof is finished with tiles and above it a dome with large windows made of bricks and tiles.
Son muchos los pintores que colocan el caballete en frente del edificio y usan la magia de pintarlo sin los cables de por medio sin las pintadas ni la cartelería que estropean su imagen. Lo mismo hace mi imaginación con todo su entorno. Imaginando hace como estaba este lugar hace cien años.
There are many painters who place their easels in front of the building and use the magic of painting it without the wires in the way, without the graffiti and signs that spoil its image. So does my imagination with all its surroundings. Imagining what this place looked like a hundred years ago.
La calle Monet y la calle Tarifa abraza la finca. Por suerte son prácticamente calles peatonales, eliminando la polución, ruido y posibles golpes que harían peligrar aun más el edificio.
Calle Monet and Calle Tarifa embrace the estate. Fortunately they are practically pedestrian streets, eliminating the pollution, noise and possible knocks that would endanger the building even more.
Al ser de propiedad privada no he podido ver su interior. Se ve que son estancias con una altura considerable sin que le falte un detalle, aunque todo envejecido y posiblemente en mal estado. Sus actuales dueños no tendrán la economía que tendría su dueño original.
As it is privately owned I have not been able to see inside. The rooms are of considerable height with no detail missing, although all are aged and possibly in poor condition. The current owners will not be as economical as the original owner.
Los locales de la planta baja son comercios con más o menos antigüedad que aportan la economía para que no quede en estado ruinoso.
The premises on the ground floor are more or less old businesses that provide the economy to keep it from falling into a state of ruin.
Esperemos que las autoridades competentes pongan la atención en los edificios históricos de las ciudades y su entorno. Cuando se den cuenta que el patrimonio arquitectónico es una buena fuente de ingresos para la ciudad, quizás ya sea tarde.
Let us hope that the competent authorities will pay attention to the historic buildings of the cities and their surroundings. When they realise that architectural heritage is a good source of income for the city, it may already be too late.
