Después de las múltiples invasiones de los aliados en sucesivos desembarcos por el sur de Italia, esto crea que el ejercito italiano se desmiembre ocasionado un armisticio con las fuerzas aliadas. En cuanto Alemania se da cuanta de lo que está ocurriendo manda tropas para ocupar la parte de Italia que aún no ha sido invadido. La ciudad de Roma hace de cruce de caminos, donde las columnas blindadas se agolpan para marchar al frente.
After multiple Allied invasions in successive landings in southern Italy, this causes the Italian army to disband, leading to an armistice with the Allied forces. As soon as Germany realises what is happening, it sends troops to occupy the part of Italy that has not yet been invaded. The city of Rome serves as a crossroads, where armoured columns crowd together to march to the front.
En la Via di Rippeta junto a la Piazza del Popolo, fotografiaron estas columnas esperando órdenes desde la Iglesia de Santa Maria dei Miracoli. En la imagen vemos dos Stug-III. Uno de ellos cargados de cajas de madera. Delante una señora va en dirección a la iglesia seguramente a la misa del día. Detrás de ella hay varios soldados y civiles conversando.
On the Via di Rippeta near the Piazza del Popolo, these columns were photographed waiting for orders from the Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli. In the picture we see two Stug-III. One of them is loaded with wooden crates. In front, a lady is heading towards the church, probably for the day's mass. Behind her are several soldiers and civilians in conversation.
Casi ochenta años después mi visita a la Piazza del Popolo no puede ser más agradable. Día soleado con buena música de fondo gracias a una persona que toca una guitarra eléctrica y canta por Guns N´Roses.

Llego a la Iglesia y busco el ángulo que el fotógrafo eligió hace décadas para hacer su fotografía. En ella ahora aparecen varios vehículos y veo que las rejas del edificio de enfrente son las mismas y pasa igual con la fachada de enfrente. Ha desaparecido los carteles de la Iglesia anunciando los tres Reyes Magos y no tengo una señora que sería fantástico. Por eso le pido el favor a mi mujer, que con muy poca gana se coloca donde le pido.
I arrive at the church and look for the angle that the photographer chose decades ago to take his picture. Several vehicles now appear in it and I see that the railings of the building opposite are the same, as is the façade in front of it. The church posters announcing the Three Wise Men have disappeared and I don't have a lady, which would be fantastic. That's why I ask my wife, who very reluctantly stands where I ask her to.
Usando Photoshop uno las dos fotografías y dejo lo más impórtate de cada una de ellas. Los acorazados alemanes junto al pequeño smart para comparar tamaños. La mujer enlutada la cambio por mi mujer y dejo el cartel de la iglesia. No consigo encuadrar por la diferencias entre las lentes de las dos cámaras fotográficas y no quería deformar las imágenes, pero me gusta el resultado.
Using Photoshop I combine the two photographs and leave the most important parts of each of them. The German battleships next to the small smart to compare sizes. I change the mourning woman for my wife and leave the church sign. I don't manage to frame the picture because of the differences between the lenses of the two cameras and I didn't want to distort the images, but I like the result.
Eliminando los vehículos y las señales de tráfico, bastarían para pensar que la fotografía están hechas en el mismo momento con la diferencia del color.
Eliminating the vehicles and the road signs, it would be enough to think that the photographs were taken at the same moment with the difference in colour.

Muy interesante buscar el lugar desde donde fue tomada una foto histórica, capturar una imagen actual desde el mismo ángulo y luego sobreponerlas.
¿Cómo logras encontrar los lugares exactos desde donde fueron tomadas las fotos históricas?
Esta fotografia no me fue muy dificil. Busqué en Google "Dal Bolog" que aparece en la antigua fotografia y apareció el restaurante "Dal Bolognese" en Roma. Luego con street view me cercioré que era el lugar correcto. Me quedé sin encontrar otras localizaciones.

This photograph was not very difficult for me. I googled "Dal Bolog" that appears in the old photograph and the restaurant "Dal Bolognese" in Rome appeared. Then with street view I made sure it was the right place. I was unable to find other locations.
