Greetings to all! I hope you are feeling very, very well. Today I'm back with a new publication and this time I want to share with you the process of redesigning the brand of my city Chivacoa.

Lo primero que hice fue buscar imágenes de referencias al respecto sobre todo para el tema de color y como fue de esperar no encontré ninguna, así que decidí investigar al respecto si mi ciudad tenia alguna bandera o escudo. Para mi sorpresa si lo tenía, pero son bastantes horribles y anticuados la verdad, así que al final descarte la idea de basarme en ellos y hacer mi propio diseño y utilizar una paleta de colores que como habitante de mi pueblo sentía que lo caracterizaría más.
The first thing I did was to look for reference images about it especially for the color theme and as expected I didn't find any, so I decided to investigate if my city had any flag or coat of arms. To my surprise if it had, but they are quite horrible and outdated so in the end I discarded the idea of basing on them and make my own design and use a color palette that as an inhabitant of my town I felt that it would characterize it more.
Después de haber hecho una serie de bocetos me quede con este, en el cual quería reflejar la industrialización de Chivacoa, así como también su parte deportiva caracterizada mayormente por el baseball que es el deporte que mas se juega y de donde han surgido varios grandes ligas. También añadí un par de notas musicales, ya que Chivacoa es un pueblo muy cultural en cuanto a la música contando incluso con su propia orquesta. Por último, Quise que el centro de la marca fuera La Iglesia San José, ya que es el edificio más característico de Chivacoa a mi parecer.
After having made a series of sketches I was left with this one, in which I wanted to reflect the industrialization of Chivacoa, as well as its sports part characterized mostly by baseball which is the most played sport and from where several major leagues have emerged. I also added a couple of musical notes, since Chivacoa is a very cultural town in terms of music and even has its own orchestra. Finally, I wanted the center of the brand to be the San José Church, since it is the most characteristic building of Chivacoa in my opinion.
Empecé a hacer el logo a partir de líneas básicas, siempre teniendo como referencia mi boceto. Poco a poco fui añadiendo mas detalles, como las chimeneas industriales, la ventana de la iglesia o la cruz.
Para la base, me ayude primero de dos cubos pequeños y luego use estos como referencia para colocar un par de líneas guías que me delimitarían donde irían los extremos de la base.
I started to make the logo from basic lines, always taking my sketch as a reference. Little by little I added more details, like the industrial chimneys, the church window or the cross.
For the base, I first used two small cubes and then I used them as a reference to place a couple of guide lines that would delimit where the ends of the base would go.
Para hacer los arcos de la base de la iglesia, cree un círculo, le di forma ovalada y con la herramienta de busca trazos lo recorte por la mitad. Luego distribuí cinco de estos por la base y los fui adaptando a la forma correspondiente.
To make the arches of the base of the church, I created a circle, I gave it an oval shape and with the stroke finder tool I cut it in half. Then I distributed five of these around the base and adapted them to the corresponding shape
Después, Hice las nubes.
Next, I made the clouds.
Para el detalle de las notas musicales busque por internet unas ya vectorizadas, las importe y siguiendo mi boceto, cree las 5 líneas del pentagrama curveadas, Luego para que me quedara mejor utilice las líneas de un pentagrama común y sobre ellas iba curveando y dándole la forma que yo quería.
For the detail of the musical notes I looked for some vectorized ones on the internet, I imported them and following my sketch, I created the 5 lines of the curved staff, then to make it look better I used the lines of a common staff and on them I was curving and giving the shape I wanted.
Luego hice la pelota de baseball. Para ello simplemente hice un circulo y un par de lineas curveadas. Y Para el detalle de la costura, me valí de la herramienta fusión para copiar varios triángulos y luego adaptarlos a la forma de la costura.
Then I made the baseball. For this I simply made a circle and a couple of curved lines. And for the detail of the seam, I used the fusion tool to copy several triangles and then adapt them to the shape of the seam.
Por ultimo y un poco de imprevisto, agregue otras dos estructuras al cuerpo de la iglesia que forman parte de esta, para que así fuera mucho mas parecida a la original y también añadi otra chimenea industrial detrás de las letras musicales.
Lastly, and somewhat unexpectedly, I added two other structures to the body of the church that are part of it, so that it would be much more similar to the original, and I also added another industrial chimney behind the music letters.
Con todos las partes del logo listo, ahora solo quedaba darle color. Para ellos busque una paleta de colores en colorhunt.co basados en los colores que había escogido, los cuales eran amarillo, naranja y blanco. Luego simplemente aplique estos colores al logo de la manera en la que creía que quedaría mejor y le daría contraste y composición.
With all the parts of the logo ready, now all that was left to do was to color it. For them I looked for a color palette in colorhunt.co based on the colors I had chosen, which were yellow, orange and white. Then I simply applied these colors to the logo in the way I thought it would look best and give it contrast and composition.
Con los colores ya aplicados, lo ultimo que hice fue tomar unas muestras y jugar con la saturación y brillo para luego aplicarlos al logo y así generar mucho mas contraste y una mejor legibilidad.
With the colors already applied, the last thing I did was to take some samples and play with the saturation and brightness and then apply them to the logo to generate much more contrast and better legibility.
