Acabo de terminar de leer este libro de Ken Follett. Si bien sabía que ya era una serie, me acabo de enterar que ya posee una 4ta parte, Las tinieblas y el alba, y es la precuela de este título. En términos generales es un libro muy entretenido, y que te hace conocer mucho del contexto que narra, al ser una novela histórica. Tiene personajes interesantes, de los cuales te cuestionas cuál será el devenir de los mismos.
I just finished reading this book by Ken Follett. Although I knew it was already a series, I just found out that it already has a fourth part, The Evening and the Morning, and is the prequel to this title. Generally speaking, it is a very entertaining book, and it lets you know a lot about the context it narrates, since it is a historical novel. It has interesting characters, of which you wonder what will become of them.
Los pilares de la tierra narra la historia de la ciudad de Kingsbridge(Inglaterra) y la construcción de su catedral, en el siglo XII. Para ello nos mostrará a diversos personajes que se irán relacionando con ese hecho. Desde el prior Phillip, pasando por el constructor Tom Builder y villanos como es William Hamleigh. Entre lo que se desarrolla la construcción y pasa el tiempo, veremos diversos conflictos políticos, batallas, sucesiones de reyes, eventos amorosos, etc. Vemos la importancia de la iglesia en la edad media y como dirige en varios aspectos la vida cotidiana de todos. A su vez, mantiene diversos misterios que se irán revelando poco a poco.

Es una novela larga, supera las 1000 páginas, por lo que veremos a los personajes en diferentes momentos de su vida. Y he de decir que tiene partes que te será difícil no seguir leyendo por lo atrapante que puede ser.
It is a long novel, it exceeds 1000 pages, so we will see the characters at different times in their lives. And I have to say that it has parts that it will be difficult for you not to continue reading because of how compelling it can be.
Tal vez lo que más me entretuvo fue el tema político de la época y ver cómo se manejaban diversas cuestiones, viendo a los personajes intentando influir y obtener más poder.
Perhaps what most entertained me was the political issue and seeing how various problems were handled, seeing the characters trying to influence and gain more power.
Si te gustan las novelas históricas, y te interesan las novelas que hacen énfasis en temas políticos y peleas de poder, esta es una buena opción. Y como ya mencione antes, aderezada con toques de romance, misterio y batallas.
If you like historical novels and you are interested in novels that emphasize political issues and struggles for power, this is a good option. And as I mentioned before, spiced up with hints of romance, mystery, and battles.
Ahora tengo en miras continuar con el segundo título de la serie “Un mundo sin fin”.
